Im stuck on what turbo to go with.Goals-340+ on 93-400 or around that on race gas-Spool at/before 4000-not meant for drifting/more for beating stangs/vettes/anything else

My current set up-HEAD-264 BC stage 1, BC springs, BC valves stock size, BC retainers, Greddy RAS, STOCK BLOCK, Greddy fm, koyo rad.,

Some obvious turbos Ive read alot about and most common one ive seen is the 2871r, but not sure if it will give me my HP goals on race gas, and from what I have read not many people go with the .86 they stick witht the 64 b/c of awesome spool. I havent seen alot fo people post about the 3071 but maybe I'll have to do so on google b/c it should be there for my HP goals. I like the idea of having it bottom mount, sleeper status. As for top mount 50 trims, I would like to hear your input. If you had goals like mine, post what you like about your setup, pro's/cons, dyno numbers, 1/4 times, anything helpful. I dk what I was thinking with this 60-1, I dont think I would have spooled till 4300

My t3/t04e 60 trim spooled around 4000-4200 which is pretty damn good for the size of the turbo but for most turbos that will put you in the 400whp range your going to be spooling at around 4000rpms. Im not sure what the 2871r .64 spools at but thats probally the closest you will get to what you are looking for. I think i remember codayace saying he spooled around 3400 but i could be wrong.

Also you should never have to turbo lag if your in the correct gear at the correct time. If you are planning to drag then the lag helps get off the line easier.

im not too worried about lag b/c i would set the rev limit to 8, but its just nice to have decent spool. i looked up the specs on your turbo, when they say its good to 490 do they mean thats maxing it out or thats the highest safe limit? and for the price thats a good deal. what mods do you have and what are you putting it down hp wise? ive been searching but people say they are going to do this and do that and get it running and they never post results.

With a well thought out setup the .64 GT2871R can make 400whp with brilliant spool. The 3071R won't be much behind as far as spool goes. If you get a twin scroll 3071R and manifold you could even beat out the 2871R Here's a dyno sheet comparision:

Blue is a .78 GT3071R, red is a .64 GT2871R. As far as I know you can get the 30R turbos in a bottom mount T2 configuration but it won't be twin scroll.

I hope to make 400 on my gt2871 .64 using regular 93 octane at around 18-20 psi.

once i get use to that i might use race fue land turn it up to about 25psi which will be the end of the turbos efficiency range. but should make 420-430 at the wheels

get and apexi headgasket.

oh i just noticed you dont have the greddy intake manifold do you.

waht size injectors are you going to use.

i picked up an enthalpy tuned ecu from a person on zilvia. it was tuned for exactly what i have. for 350 dollars. I will do a dyno run with it once my car gets broken in then send it in for a reflash and get a 2 step programed in. and have it fine tuned.

Nope, no intake manifold. Im very concentrated on getting my ecu then start saving for this set up. Right now im running 550's but will be getting 740's right after the turbo is purchased. theres a dyno day at this a local shop here on the 24th so ill be posting results.

Im running a s15 t28 though so keep that in mind. I havent seen anyone post results with a buitl head on that turbo, just estimates. If im over 300 I'll be happy. I cant wait to see how it pulls top end, before it was pretty nice. My plan is to try and hit 370 with the 2871 on 93, and race gas 400+

well i am talking about your build once you get the gt2871.

i think 400 is do able on pump gas. and that is my goal.

racing gas will hopfully get me i nthe area of 430 RWHP at about 25 psi.

whats your engine specs? too many pages on your thread to look. after this turbo upgrade ill be putting some new wheels on, tint, alarm(have one just needs installation). whats the highest trap that you have seen a 2871 get?

Apexi 1.1 mm headgasketBC 264 camsBC springsNew valve sealsMR exhuast manifold. greddy intake manifold

pretty close to your set up minus the the manifolds

i dont recall the highest trap i saw with a gt2871. there is a whole thread on Zilvia about them i have read through a couple times.
