How much? I was thinking of what the noise would be like compared to the same exact configuration in metal. Since noise seems to be a major concern (in the sense of benefit) for many, what is the difference in noise of a carbon fibre part?

Cost from the Z Store = 114 + shipping

But i'm from Canada so I pay more + shipping + taxes + Duties

It'll probably cost me around $200 CDN

I'll give feedback once its installed. Its gonna be my first MOD!

Let us know of its construction, that is carbon-fiber over glass or 100% carbon-fiber. I am curious since most carbon fiber tubes are straight and this would mean that this piece, if 100% carbon fiber is truely a custom design.

I think that part might only be for the first gen G's

you do know that your 2008 has dual intakes right... I don't want to rain on your parade or anything but make sure you bought the right part!

The newer sedans motor doesn't look like that!

Dude it is for a G35..... it even says 3.5 on the motor

350z and G35 have the same motor!

Mines a 2006 Coupe (15k Miles), its bolt on

Anyways, here's the link to the store:

http://www.thezstore.com/page/...-2961

Description:One of the best looking upgrades we've seen yet! This GENUINE carbon fiber intake tube completely replaces your stock tube, and includes silicone hose connectors and clamps.

I also called to make sure and they have good service!

I figured you were and I do look under my hood on occassion. What I found interesting in the picture was the fact that it appeared to be one piece with bends in it. You can purchase carbon- fiber tubes of this size to make your own but the bends need to be considered. The cost seems to indicate that it is a wrap over another form such as glass. You can do carbon-fiber over an extruded graphite type of form but on this kind of part not sure how well it may hold up in this relatively short distance.

I think I'll make a run to the site as I am sort of fond of cf when properly utilitized.

Installed !!!It took me more time than a normal rubber z-tube which I head takes about 15 minutes. It took me at least 30 minutes. Right placement was really hard to get since the tube is unbendable and it doesn't have a "exact" fit.

I noticed a more growling sound from under the hood I'll have too see later if throttle response is faster than stock....I didnt drive around enough to notice...but I will soon!

Since its hard as rock, I nicked it a little while installing though. You can see it a little from the picture. (bottom right of tube, some is reflection, some became white after nicking it on the metal)

Pics are from cell phone, so they are not the best

hmmm that is a pretty rough inner surface for something that is ideally supposed to have good air flow. Looks good though.

That doesn't mean it doesn't have good air flow. What do you think the inside of the air cleaner looks like? what is interesting is when you have fluid flow inside of a pipe that the flow will often only largely be down the center away from the edges.

There are devices that actually take advantage of this because there also is a temperature differential that takes place as well. One is a form of air conditioning without a compressor. I have seen articles that even go as far as trying to harness the concept for cold air induction.

What I find interesting is that this doesn't appear to be a wrap over an extruded form such as graphite or glass.

Did this actually end up making a difference in throttle response or anything besides looks and maybe a little sound? I'm thinking about getting one and adding a K&N filter or something if it's worth it. i don't have the kind of money to put a supercharge on just yet.

Also wondering if you can throw a pop charger on that, if so I'll be calling in my order soon.

I would say that it is exactly the same as a normal z-tube. The CF is real but its only for looks. Even though its not smooth on the inside, compared to a smooth surface, in real world applications such as the G, there will be no noticible difference.

As with any z-tube, Throttle response is better since it doesnt have to go through the stock baffle and the sound a little louder, but it gets drowned out easily by the stock exhaust. I already had a K&N filter before putting the cf z-tube on.

I my opinion, all the intakes on the G are overhyped, not saying you shouldn't get one, you should. Just don't think it will completly change your driving experience by 50%
