Redtop SR20 - HKS Type-S FMIC. HKS SSQV BOV, Intake - Blitz Downpipe, Blitz 80 mm Exhaust, Testpipe - Walbro 255LPH, ACT clutch.

I was planning on upping the boost to 14lbs through the use of a manual boost controller... and I was wondering if that would be safe on this setup? I was considering waiting until I got a new radiator, thermostat, fans, ect before upping the boost to 14lbs (ya know, extra safety with the cooling and all... I do not know if it makes a difference and all when it comes to 'safety'). Any thoughts would help a lot.

Thanks.

Your safe. Lets just see how long the turbo holds out. At 14 it wont last long(that is assuming it is a stock t25). But as far as fuel you will be ok. But the injectors will be pushing hard. Atleast you have a fuel pump. I would proly get a FPR to be safe. Do you have an EGT or A/F gauge? Just make sure you dont lean out. Iv'e ran 14 on mine plenty of times but mine is tuned with JWT and an AFC. That would also explain why Iv'e gone through three turbos. The turbo I have now I take care of. But I hate the fukker.....After the the first motor blew I take better care of it. You live you learn. After 5 yrs owning my 240 Iv'e got alot of trial and error.

I have no gauges. Stock T25. How much life do you think (on average) my turbo will have runnin 14lbs on my setup... considering I get a FPR.

you are running the turbo at its max efficiency at that level..no way to tell since its not new and we dont know what wear it had on it previously..if you care how long it will last, then you shouldnt run it over 12...i run it over 14psi, but i dont care if it blows and wont take it as a losss...if you'll be disapointed in blowing it, then take better care of it, and run it at 12psi

Werd... thanks for the info. Yea, I definately need this turbo for a good 8-12 months (doin a nasty upgrade this summer). I guess I'll dial it in anywhere between 10-12, depending on my mood?

i dont think you'll blow up the motor with the t25 as long as your fuel is in check...but im not promising....a fuel line can always break, catch on fire and go boooomb : )

also, personally I would recommend that you get an electric boost controller like a Profec B or some ish like that. I have an MBC (joe P MBC to be exact) and I think it can go suck on my sweaty beanbag. It is a pain in the butt to get right because it changes boost dramatically between day and night with the temperature. In the daytime I will be running about 10 or 11 psi, but at night it will go to 15 or 16 without touching anything. Plus once you do get it set to 14, if you ever want to change it, you have to lower it back down, see where it is, stop the car, get out, change to where you *think* it should be and then go run again. PITA I tell you. I alway sthought it would never bother me, but in the type of driving and racing that i do, it would be SUPER nice to be able to control boost on the fly from in the car.....

just my $.02

How old is your JoeP I have one too and am very happy with it. It holds the same no matter if its hot or cool outside. I have very short Vacuum lines to it though.
