Very true. A friend had a BPU Skyline GTS R33 and that car was fast, that kit (cheap) in a light S13 got to be fast?SeVa-S13 wrote:The majority of RB20 owners are noobs with mostly stock swaps who did it because it was cheap.Lots of stock-ish RB25 people out there too.Even a stock 26 will get you flat 12's with slicks, but not many people can afford that obviously.
There's of course always exceptions to this but for the most part, people are running stock internal and small turbo setups.
HAH if that was only true. The RB25 and 26 are mid and high end engine swaps into a low end (240sx) community. People can't afford to upgrade them.Swedish Mike wrote:Most of you probably run 350 hp and a lot of torque, that´s a lot in a light weight car....

Yeah, the BPU kit (stupid name) is a Supra thing that Skyline guys started to use.Boost controller, turbo back exhaust, air filter, IC and sometimes fuel cut remover.Should give you more than 300 bhp in a RB25 car.SeVa-S13 wrote:I know what "BPU" stands for and maybe it has some set in stone mods for those stupid fish-eyed poopras, but I'll just assume it means basic mods like fmic, exhuast, ebc and stuff like that. Still, a mostly stock RB25 and puts down 275whp at best? Quick, but not exactly fast. I'm not exactly up on my ricer bench-racing guesstimates but that's good for what? Low 13's in a 240?
Hi there!Yellow4g63 wrote:There should be a thread with 1/4 mile times for RB powered 240's.
Couldn't have said that better myselfeh? wrote:The RB25 and 26 are mid and high end engine swaps into a low end (240sx) community. People can't afford to upgrade them.

No I took it to the 1/4 mile when I had the RB20 in the S13. Full exhaust and filter with some BFG's and screwy setting on my boost controler netted me a 13.7@99mph my only crappy run caught on video by someone who didn't know how to work it http://www.3rdgearvtec.net/And...k.wmvSwedish Mike wrote:

Did you try your car at the local 1/8? Doesn´t say that much but still cool.Yeah, a 1/4 mile thread would be great!

Just use MT´s and drop the clutch at 5000 rpm´s! It´s all about the 60-foot.RB20DETodd wrote:I have no launch skilllzzzz
haha 5000 rpm in a harr be? since my last run i did a 7 grand clutch drop to be a jackassSwedish Mike wrote:

Sorry, I´m slow but I really don´t understand?RB20DETodd wrote:haha 5000 rpm in a harr be? since my last run i did a 7 grand clutch drop to be a jackass
Rb20 is the most rev happy motor, even at a 3500 clutch drop it will spin ant will go straight to 8K, any clutch drop past 4000 is roast fest, Have to play with the gas till they grab, or maybe my 235 es100's and nismo 2 way are a ****ty comboSwedish Mike wrote:

I know the SR guys here drop it at 5000 rpm but we talk glue and MT´s now.The tires make wonders, our transmission´s often last longer using MT compared to R tires, the car launch smooth and nice.RB20DETodd wrote:Rb20 is the most rev happy motor, even at a 3500 clutch drop it will spin ant will go straight to 8K, any clutch drop past 4000 is roast fest, Have to play with the gas till they grab, or maybe my 235 es100's and nismo 2 way are a ****ty combo

A S13 guy over here ran 12.28 and 117 mph with a stock block and truck turbo CA18 a few years ago, he used MT´s and BMW clutch. The organic BMW clutch slip a bit and this helps a lot.
The 9 sec SR20 S14 also used a clutch that slip and a BMW manual gearbox.

Haha, custom rules! Why do things the easy way?RB20DETodd wrote:Nice sounds like you guys are into the customness, my bum is on the sweedish, sweedish......sweeeeediiish, Sorry whenever i see your name i think of the Tom Green "bum bum song" yes that came from deep left field
