Just to throw my 2 cents in here because of my backround with batteries being that i work at the local Batteries Plus,

There are three basic types of batteries, acid, gel, and dry. The acid battery is your everyday battery, they are used everywhere and operate when acid mixes with the lead to cause a specific electrolite balance, gel runs along the same lines as in the optima batteries. Optima batteries use gel with tightly wrapped lead inside the battery to create a better flowing current of POWER woo! Now the dry cell, the battery that we say in our business get you laid. The dry cell, unlike the acid or gel where there is free liquid in the battery itself, absorbs the acid directly into the lead. This content of acid and lead mix, tightly packed into the battery causes a very high resistance to voltage drop. These batteries are the odessey batteries.

Here is a link to the most popular odessey battery in our store at the moment.http://www.batteriesplus.com/p....aspx

With 625Cranking Amps in this battery, it can start anything you can throw at it. The dry composition of the battery allows it to be able to sit for long periods of time, and im talking months at a time, and still be able to start anything. That is the resistance i was talking about. These batteries can be mounted any way needed and i mean ANY. This allows for easy trunk installs that i know most of us have here. They are deep cycle so if in the case that you somehow drain the battery it can be recharged to make it operate just like new. These batteries are being used in many high performance cars, but nobody seems to know about them.

all in all i think that i have made my point.why by a 40lb optima when you can buy a 15 lb odessey

all hail odessey

Those are good batteries but if you have electric fans and any kind of stereo setup that includes an amp they will die quickly, even with a cap. I had 3 give out in little under 3 years so I swapped to a yellow top and its been kickin for about 2 years. I'm not putting the odyssey down, it is what it is, but if you have additional electronics in the car it will die early. You should get a battery that best suites your needs.

I have altima electric fans and no stereo whatsoever. My idea is that the alternator will handle the load of hte fans while the car is running, and the battery shouldd be able to handle the load for the 5 or so minutes the fans run after the car is shut down.If not i have a jumper pack
