I just came across a 1998 pulsar with the ca18de in it. body is in really good shape as is the interior. Motor has about 104000 miles, the guy selling it said that it would run for around 30-40 min then it would staring knocking. He had replaced the headgasket while doing so broke a bearing while he was at it, and the car has been sitting since. Almost a year according to him. He's asking 250 for the car. A friend of mine was looking for one awhile back, but if he doesnt go for it I'm thinking about picking it up. Do you guys think it's worth it?? Also anyone out there know where I can get a FWD ca18det? for this pulsar if the motor is shot?

ThanksWei

Thant is 1989?You can't go wrong for $250, if you keep the ignitor and the cas, you made your money back.

FWD ca18dets, they are very hard to come by, much harder than RWD, but you can easliy modify the RWD engine to fit on it, since you already got the accessories from the fWD engine, such as ps, alternator etc..., they will all plug onto the RWD engine, The only thing is your intake will be facing the passenger fender instead of the driver, but that is no big deal at all, also your turbo downpipe will be pointing closer to the transmission, but also , thats not a big deal.

In my opionion the price is right and is worth a project or just keeping the parts.

Isn't it possible to swap over the endplate and throttle body on the intake manifold with some hose and cable rerouting?

Anyone ever attempted this? Info on flow distribution afterwards?

The injectors from a jdm ca18de/ca18det are different and they won't work on a US/Canadian models intake, the injectors are weired looking, the rail won't work on det injectors.
