Hey all,
Ill get straight to the point, my plan is to replace my shot rb25det with a vh41. Ive searched through the forum to find all the manual conversion options that you guys are using and i wanted to know your opinions on what you think i should do.
The engine is going into my r32 drifter, like i said i had an rb25det, well i also have the rb25det 5spd trans (you know the big one) and in all honesty i would like to keep it(despite the fact i have worn the 4th gear synchro) and thats where the problems start. Im in New Zealand, along with Mettler, so its really going to hinder any real chance of getting any of the complete adapter kits you guys are running shipped down here, mainly just due to horrendous shipping charges. My only real options would be 1)to fabricate my own setup, copying the designs you guys are using 2) cut and weld the bellhousings together(which i am a little sketchy about) or 3) whats currently looking to be the best idea, sell the rb25det box and see if i can grab a r154 supra or even a v160 6spd:D and the fabricate a bellhousing with adapter like Mettlers.
What do you guys think i should do? A mate of mine is gonna spin up my flywheel for me, and i have pretty good clutch contacts cause im in the trade. my only real problem is the trans/adapter issue.
Your thought and advice is greatly appreciated.
Oh and do the later model vh41s have a different intake manifold? I had a quick look for an engine last week and the one i found doesnt have the spider manifold and the guy says its a later model one.
Cheers
