I went in to get an alignment today and the mechanic sais i had the wrong lug nuts. My car has z31 300z wheels on it and he said the lug nuts need to be the ones with a "straightener"(like a washer put part of the lug nut unit) and the threads are suppose to go in the holes to get more threads on. My wheels are only be held on by a few threads and it is dangeroous. If anyone has these right wheel lugs let me know where i can get them at. And please post pics up of your lug nuts so i know what they look like compared to mine. Thanks, MIke.

The ones you have are on the left. The ones you need are similar to the ones on the right.

Z31 wheels have no 60degree conical taper for the lug nut at far left to fit. The lugs on the right use a washer in between the nut and wheel, and the cylindrical or 'shank' part of the lug nut goes into the wheel. This was common for most all old mag wheels. Nowdays a handful of automakers use this syle for OEM. Toyota / Lexus, Jaguar, Lincoln LS has them, Mitsubishi has some.

Does anyone on here have a part number for them? I dont want one with too long or short a "shank." I figure OEM nissan parts would be best. Nissantech and Q45tech feel free to respond.

The ones they sell at courtesy parts is either 11 for a long one or 5.08 for the small one. It looks as though the trhead length is the same though. I think the long ones are for style or ease of use.

you can find them on ebay sometimes, which is where i bought mine. i run 280zx wheels which also need the shank type.

running normal conical lugs on the wheels can oval out the holes and ruin the wheel. a guy at a recent drift event was running 280zx wheels with the wrong lug nuts and one of the wheels actually broke where the lug nut sits.
