I figured out why my hood sits higher than the fenders, but i dont know why it does this. Every time i jack the car up the hood start to raise up. Even if i unlatch it, it still goes up. My question is how do you guys jack your Zs. I follow the FSM but the hood ends up looking like its unlatched. Help, My z looks "off"

Does it go back to normal when you take it back off the jacks?

1) Check the radiator support bracket for any bends (a common screw up is for people to jack up the car on the support bracket for the radiator, it is not structurally sound enough to support all the weight of the car and bends, this causes the hood/fenders to mis-align). Anytime I purchase a Z, it's the first thing I look at, it is very common due to mass amount of inexperience by previous Z32 owners.

2) Also adjust the rubber hood stoppers to align it a little better. May help just a bit.

3) If you also want to get savy and do a bit more adjustment, you can loosen the screws on fender to engine bay and you will get a small amount of adjustment on gapping from hood to fender.

4) Also you have a small bit of adjustment on the hood bracket bolts but I would only do that as a last resort, as far as alignment.

5) Lastly, you can adjust the hood latch by loosening the 3 (14mm I believe) that hold the hood latch on to both the upper radiator support bracket and the hoodlatch support bracket.

Maybe start by telling us how you go about jacking your car up.

I hate to say it but i jack it up by the support bar in the midle of the car. But i also jack it like a normal car from the sides and it does the same. It takes monthes for it to go down a little. I also have to hit the support bar up top to make it go down a tad. I changed my oil two monthes ago and the hood still sits up.

Enjoy the reading. The only other option you have is to have it pulled on a frame machine or some sort......ORRRRRRR..... replace that piece (unbolt it all, drill out the rosetta welds, put in new part, weld up new rosetta welds, bolt it all back up, etc).

The Write up says to jack it up by the radiator support, maybe that should be deleted or something so there wont be any confusion or damage to anymore cars
