I don't know if a thread like this has been done before(maybe it has) but we gotta get more people into this music forum. I want to know what your favorite rock band is(whatever it may be metal, hardcore, punk). Let people know why you think this band is good and why they should give them a try.

I don't have a favorite rock band(my tastes change month to month) but lately I've been listening to a band called My Bitter End. I can honestly say I can't stop listening to them. They are a Grindcore Metal band but they are very melodic(if grindcore can be melodic). I mostly listen to metal bands because of the drumming(I play drums) and I am in love with their drummer. I know he uses trigger pads, but it just sounds so sweet, he plays like I hope to play someday. There new album is...

My favorite song off of it is called Becoming Misfortune. Anyone that is into metal should give these guys a try.

Try to keep this thread alive guys

The music forum sadly is dead.

My favorite rock band is either Zeppelin or Tull. I like metal well enough, but my very favorite bands are mostly more traditional bluesy or folky rock, for a a lot of the same reason you like metal: I'm a guitar player and I love blues, classical, and folk rock guitar.

Incubus

I first listened to Incubus when Make Yourself was released, my sister bought it, I took it from her and that was that. I was 11 years old, and it was about the same time I started playing guitar. All the other bands I listened to at that age died off or I lost interest.I've grown up with them on a musical level that I share with no other person, or band.... they were THE band that got me into music.

I love playing along to the song Pardon Me, the drumming is pretty wild.

PtH is one of my favorites as well, they are probably my favorite current band. I have been talking about them on here for years now trying to get people to listen to them. The complexity of their music is incredible, and the lyrics of the first CD were amazing. Fortress was better musically, but they took a step back lyrically IMO.

I cant just list one band. I guess I'll pick them all by genre;

Mathcore: Protest the Hero or The Human Abstract (before their last ****ty CD)

Melodic death metal: Necrophagist, just insane ****. I've been listening to a lot of Quo Vadis as well, but I always have since I heard them in '03.

Hardcore: Between the Buried and Me or Darkest Hour, although they are both pretty melodic so I wouldnt call them completely hardcore

Classic rock: Zeppelin. Nuff said. The local classic rock station has been running "Zeptember" all month which has been awesome. They play two or three Zep songs every hour. The station is on 90% of my 10 hour day at work.

Power metal: Probably Firewind. They are incredible, kind of like a Dragonforce that doesnt suck.

I listen to many other genres, but I mainly listen to metal (as you can tell).

Protest the Hero are also one of my favorites, I normally listen to a band for a couple of weeks and then never listen to them again but with these guys it's different. I love playing along to Turn Soonest to the Sea and the video for Heretics and Killers is pretty cool http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AEn8HmgJxd4

I would tell anyone that's into modern metal to go get Kezia, it's a great album overall.

Get Fortress too. At first I didnt like Fortress because...well...it wasnt Kezia, and I thought Kezia was done perfectly. But the more I listened to Fortress the more I loved it.

I play Heretics and Killers, The Divine Suicide of K, Blindfolds Aside, Divinity Within, Sequoia Throne and The Dissentience almost every day on my guitar. Its just as fun to play as it is to listen to. I dont know how they think of such great riffs and rhythms.

My GF's sister is the huge fan of them... I can't respect the band because they get incredibly drunk before shows.

Right now I'm stuck on Sigh and Unexpect from seeing them live recently, but I can't wait till Brujeria plays here again! I owe Shane a burrito still...

Rush

enough said.

I've seen them twice live and they're just as amazing live as they are in the studio.

I'm a Rush geek through and through. Even have Alex Lifeson's autograph made out to me.

If we're talking classic rock it's either LZ or ACDC . Couldnt do w/o one or the other. Newer stuffs good too though. If you like alt/punk, one you might not have heard of Pepper.

Colony was a badass CD. I find myself playing Embody the Invisible and Zombie Inc. on guitar a lot. I love the intro riffs and the clean solo from Zombie Inc, it is a great song.

The Jester Race, Whoracle, and Colony are their best work. After that they changed a bit, but I still love them. None of their albums suck, they are just a great band. Too bad I don't hear them on the radio here in Miami. People here love bands like 3 days grace and Nickelback.

As far as a live band I would go with The Ramones. Reason being is they were hard working band that kept rock in the forefront of what people were listening to during the dark days of disco.

I saw Black Sabbath and a few other heavy metal icons yet I think Ramones are above it.

Alice and Chains worked and ended too early. Metallica jammed in concert.

Didn't know about this band and I just tried. My throat hurts just listening to their songs. Sorry, I think I'm old.

Some more... Yngwie when he was young and skinny. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sj3ec2cCaJw
