Guys,
We have a thread on the BMW M6 forum about cool features about the car that you discovered. Please share a few things you have found out about your QX56.

I found that if you are outside your car, and hold down the unlock button for about 5 seconds, all of the windows go down.

I think I know you.. ;P

Do you have a operators manual?

[2012 model year] page 3-4 in "pre-driving checks and adjustments" list this option. also if you use the manual key in the cylinder and turn it to unlock, it too will also roll down the windows and even roll UP the windows when you go to lock the car with the manual key...

this feature is also avail on the nissan armada, and maybe other nissan products.

take a trip in the manual... you may be surprised at what you find out.. ;)

Thanks for the Reply Marc... seems more voyeurs than participants....

anyway, I do have the manual, and also found one on line to view. I just wanted the cliff notes of cool things to know.. So If you are reading this, please REPLY !!!

On a side note, I found in the manual that there was supposed to be a switch for the Adaptive Headlights, as well as a control for the headlights load adjustment (Which I should have both features) but neither switch or control are present. If I turn my steering wheel I can see the adaptive lights working, but there is no On/Off Switch. I can not locate the adjustment for the headlight leveling either ? Any suggestions ???

yes in the later model years, those adjustments are automatic.

if you pay close attention, with your lights on, just pull up behind a car and look at the cut off of the lights on the rear of a car, truck, etc. you will see the lights ever so slightly moving up and down to adjust to changes in the cars ride.
i much prefer the adjustments be done on the fly and automatically via the BCM. gives a more classier feel to the car overall.

under the dash, to your right leg, there is a button to cancel IBA. look under there and see it! ;)

Locking the doors. I found with the button on the door handles, that if you press once, it unlocks that door only. If you press 2x it unlocks all doors. On the tailgate, there is a button that will automatically open the tailgate. Next to that is a lock & unlock button...

I see the Beast has Fog Lights, but I dont see a switch to turn them on... ANYONE, please chime in !!!

 LOL...

look in the operators manual.. lol its all in there

the fog lamp switch is on the turn signal stalk.

the door lock/unlock stuff is all in the manual. seriously...

did you know you can program two separate fobs to setup different systems in the car?

meaning if the wife likes the temp at a certain spot and the seats and steering wheel at a certain spot, she can program her fob to do all of that when she uses that fob.

if you like other settings, use the other fob to set to taste, then when you climb in the car will adjust the settings to your taste..

again, all of this is in the manual....

oh here is a good one! check this video out.

Look in the operators manual.. lol its all in there --- I get that...
This is a very inactive user group. This is a way that people could participate !!!

The user manual in this Suv is a Bible... If I had a week with nothing to do, I could sit back at my leasure and read the manual. I started reading the manual, and some of the items are intuitive, but its nice to have users chime in and discuss features that they found that might be buried in the manual.

Thanks for your feedback.

i get ya bro! Im pickin' up what you are layin' down.. ;)

iv been a mod/admin and just a part of web forums since the late 90s, and I love learning about things from members of a community chat forum.

that said,

people mostly only come to forums when there is something wrong. the post count of many of the recent member to sign up proves this. ;)

most people are just out enjoying the suv! plus as mentioned, there are no easter eggs on this suv as it may be on others, plus there are tons more bmws on the road than this suv.. a fact which i like as i still get head turns when people look at the 2012 qx.. there are only a handful in the LA area (but tons of rang rovers).

so i feel you but dont get bummed. i see it as a good thing.. these cars are reliable and as you can see i am a big website guy! ;)

the operators manual is thick but most of it is just common sense/safety stuff. the first part of the manual deals with seat belts and safety for example.

spend time in the HVAC and AV sections as those have the most info you would want to read about in regards to the tech in these rides.

plus, im here to help ya. i know this car inside and out. been a nissan fanboy since my first armada back in 2006. had a new 2008 then jumped on the qx bandwagon.

maybe startup a facebook and/or instagram type social network as most people are already logged on to such sites. no need to sign up like you would have to do here.

marctronixx,
Thanks for the reply. I appreciate what you said, and appreciate the effort you put into this forum and the Infinity forum as well.

I do love the uniqueness of this vehicle. I just picked up a week ago, and have already had 2 individuals I didn't know approach me to chat about the vehicle, and comment how they Love this Suv,, and if they had the $$$ they would get one.

I guess I started this thread in hopes to of gettin Cliff notes on the features, as well as get some users to Post. So if your reading this, and your name is not "marctronixx", Please Post Something... :)

After you unlock your QX with the fob, hold the unlock button and all the windows will roll down. Nice to have this feature when you're in a hot weather area.
