What's your fantasy Pathfinder/QX4 that was never offered by Nissan? It's OK to combine stuff from multiple model years, other models in the Nissan line, and general aftermarket stuff.

I'll start it off: R50 SE, with VQ40 engine, 6-speed manual transmission, and four-wheel disks. And stainless steel front fender wells ;-).

Why SE instead of LE? I frequently jump into my PF wearing a wet dive suit to go fetch the boat trailer. Just a couple of old beach towels between the damp and the seat. Leather wouldn't like that.

Begin edit:
Some things I'm adding because somebody else suggested them:

LED Brake lights (the tail lights can be incandescent).
aspherical mirrors with turn signal repeaters and auto reverse tilt down (no blue tint, no auto dim)

And a few more I thought of myself:
Can take the back seat out completely for more cargo room, not just the bottom part (all three of my PFs have been run as two-seaters almost all of the time).
If I turn the wipers on continuous, the headlights come on (California law).
Automatic power seats and mirrors (if Adm. Linda drives, she hits one button, and seats and
mirrors adjust for her.)
Tail gate that goes up high enough that I can't hit my 6' 5" head on it. (OUCH).

A Terrano in America, with "pseudo-aftermarket" parts like how Scion/Toyota has with their TRD stuff. More Nismo truck stuff essentially.

i would have stuck with a mechanical transfer case (4wd on a level) instead of the fancy 4wd on a electronic dial crap.

Other than that.... Nissan Terrano Regulus headlights SHOULD have came stock, but I don't mind being the odd ball....

After 9 years with my 2002 Chilkoot, I'd like to have a last year (2004) fully loaded Pathfinder LE, or a last year (2003) fully loaded QX4.
Everytime I travel to the southern states, I look in the local on line ads for a low mileage cream puff late model R50, but they are few and far between.
For the most part, I like the way they came as built, but in a fantasy world, would have liked to have one with a five or six speed auto transmission instead of the four speed we have now.
A few added horses would be nice, but I don't think the 3.5's we have now would be considered underpowered.
Add in some modern technology, like bluetooth, back up camera, GPS, etc.
Maybe heated and cooled seats. Heated telescoping steering wheel, adjustable pedals.
Like to see bigger front brakes, and possibly rear discs instead of drums.
I think of more later, but that's my short list for now.

You got me there.

On a side note, when I was shopping for my Pathfinder 3 years ago, 03/04 Platinum editions were going for 18k+. And I didn't feel like putting out that kind of money for handles.

Hm - I don't have the active lifestyles of many on this forum...

* I do wish they'd have used projector-styled headlamps for the QX4 HID's - opposed to the common-scatter lamp design.
* steel bumper option, as zach7685 mentioned
* the current/return of the VQ35DE in the '13 Pathfinders for mpg/power benefits (even though it's a mere 5mpg, I still want it! lol)
* automatic/key-fob controllable roll-down windows (b/c the 2002 PF's had it :(, making it more lux than my Q - lol)
* floor shifter for transfer case instead of dial-a-wheeldrive (primarily a personal preference)
* aux/stereo jack for the stereo
* and magical technology to make the VQ engine more fuel efficient.

I think the better gas mileage of the '13 PF is due to CVT, lighter weight, and better aerodynamics, not the smaller engine.

A QX4 newer than 2003, that gets 30mpg city!

And a beefier A/C system - with manual controls.

My fantasy isn't really for one car

I wish every R50 came with a limited slip rear axle and, when trying to find a decent one, I didn't have to wade through a sea of models with useless axles and then have to be forced into one with the winter package (almost always an LE, loaded with auto climate and stuff I neither want nor need)

My spec:
R50, properly rustproofed from the beginning
VQ35DE or VQ37DE (No V8, way too heavy for the R50)
Xenon Headlights like the QX4
Limited Slip Rear Axle standard (not just on winter package)
All-mode 4WD
No Navigation, just a regular radio that I can change easily
Manual Climate Controls
Leather Seats
Carpeted floor covered front to rear with Husky Liners/Weathertech
Rear Disc Brakes
No Sunroof

I won't drive an R50 without a limited slip axle, even in a 4WD configuration. It's useless to me otherwise. I can't stand how I have to run around and find cars with the winter package in order to find one already equipped with the right axle. Otherwise, I have to buy the truck, change the axle, it's a mess. I want the car ready-to-go out of the box, but with the marketing we got from Nissan, I have to end up searching the hills for a Winter package vehicle that isn't rusted to hell and most of them ended up in places where they're rusted to hell. Then when I get it, more often than not, it's a decked out LE or QX4 with a ton of stuff I neither need nor want (It's just going to break).

I could do without everything else I want if they just made a decent limited slip axle standard. I will not be caught in the sand with one tire spinning freely and the other doing nothing....been stuck on the beach too many times (with 4WD) without a limited slip axle to know better than that.

It astounds me the amount of damage my car did to a Prius at 3 MPH

Oh, this is gonna be fun. My fantasy Pathfinder would be an R50 Nismo edition. It would have the following features.

Standard JDM projector lights identical to the ones you see on the Terrano.
A Nismo styled Grille.
Standard 18 inch racing rims with low profile tires.
A tuned suspension that gives the Pathfinder a low racing stance.
Dual exhaust.
A turbo 3.3L or 3.5L engine.
A 5 or 6 speed manual transmission
Nismo racing seats
A racing hood with fully functional hood scoops
A Panoramic roof
