A dealer has a 05 QX56 for about $20K. It is in real nice shape and has about 76K miles. May I please ask for some advice on things to ask about specific to the QX56 prior to purchase?

I just wanted to ask a group of knowledgeable owners about the "Gotcha's" on this vehicle.

Thanks guys!

Will

Welcome to NICOclub! Thanks for visiting the Armada/QX56 Forum! Glad to have you here.

Biggest thing I can suggest is to take the vehicle for a nice long test drive. Pay close attention to the brakes, the '04 and early '05 models had brake issues.......also listen for any rattles. I had an '04 up until January, and I loved it! Sounds like a pretty good deal, but those are the things to check for.

Thanks for the nice welcome and info Timmbo. I plan to take the QX for the weekend and give it a good "Test Drive".

Can you run Regular 87 octane or do you have to run mid-grade or higher??

I haven't heard of any problems other than what Timmbo mentioned.I just bought a new '08 and it is an awesome SUV.Best on the market in my opinion. However,I am very disappointed in the fuel mileage. It doesn't take much to make me happy.I've been driving one ton 4x4 diesel crew cab's for years. They got me 16 mpg.I am only getting 11.0 mpg average on my new QX. That is light city and rural highway driving.

Wow, that is low. How many miles do you have on yours? I have had my '08 Armada since January. For the first few months, I was getting around 11mpg with mostly highway. Around May-June, I was up to 12.6 to 13.2. Then in the last few months or so, I am at 14.2, and that isn't really taking it easy all that much. I know a big thing though now is that I am not using the AC because the temps are down now here in Green Bay. If I drove more economically I would be closer to 15-16 mpg.
