Hay wassup everyone..thought i'd join and get some advice from some people who love 240's like me.well im 16 years old and have a job at little caesars. i bought a 1993 5spd 240sx.its got 132,000 miles..im not a pro mechanic but the car needs motor mounts cause wen the car turns on the engine shakes..it also needs the coolant overflow tank..as a 16 year old all i want is to build the motor so i can drift but with my age and the money i make that isnt happening soon.i just wish one day i wake up and my car turns into a D1 drift car lol..but what i want to know is where should i start on the car..i want to get a turbo for it but i wanna get all the simple stuff down that any person should have then any small performance bolt ons i could buy like intake, and then bigger stuff like 255 fuel pump and even bigger like connecting rods,.if someone can be so nice to just give me a brief discriptions of small to bigger things i should do engine wise..

advice, do ALL maintanence before upgrading. make sure everything stock is working tip top, otherwise anything you upgrade will put more stress on older components. id suggest doin suspension work and spending lots of money on seat time(what im doin) before lookin for more power. your motor, running good will supply plenty of 'get sideways power'also, READ! read alot. internet is a powerful tool for learning. look up car repair and basic maintanence. youll save alot of money doin it yourself

and a warning: everyone will bash you for not using the search button and looking threw old threads. try a search to see if your questions been covered before. oh, and welcome post pics of your car

the energy suspension kit is great, tho most peaple dont use all of it. becouse once you get adjustable arms they come with new/sherical bushings. nice set of coilovers. stuff like that. just dont cheap out on anything, and dont buy something cuz its JDM tyte

first thing i would do is the RSR bushing kit after proper maintnence I.E spark plugs, fuel, air filter distributor cap and rotor brakes etc.. then get a feel for the car b4 trying to upgrade i have had alot of friends get cars too powerful for themselves and bad things happen trust me

truthfully im in the same boat you are with the car, but im 17 and mines a 1990 with a sohc motor in it. im hoping to upgrade the motor to a dohc and turbo it one day, but now im doing suspension and paint first, take it in baby steps. energy suspension kits are great, ebay the whole kit is like 150$ and it makes a hell of a difference in the handling. as for the overflow ive heard an overflow off a miata will work, but i havent tried that. i need one too. lol. and just as a warning make sure the trunk or hatch seals right bc the person who had mine before me didnt and didnt have the spoiler sealed off right and i just had to replace my whole trunk floor pan. it was pretty time consuming, but the way ive always lookd at fixin up cars is get your suspension right first, interior, motor, body, then paint. what is your budget for parts on the car? i could prolly find some good deals on suspension pieces and things like that.

Just do research on different types of components. Theres not just one way of doin it that works. you can stay with all the same company or in some cases mix and match. Just make sure it can get you back and forth to work before working on being the next tanner foust. Is it a coupe or fastback? Pics? Are you even still posting or have you flat lined already?

you dont need much power to drift.

I'd focus on coilovers and a diff first. then arms, and a bushing kit.do that and you're going the right way.

eventually, you can get a new motor like an ls1 or an Sr20det.

but take care of the chassis first. go look at s13teddy's car. he is the ideal budget build drift car phenom and neighborhood hero.

EDIT:: BH also. you're new but I have all these builds in my recent threads, they're easy to find.

Work hard... be patient!
