DB4 GT Zagato

the DB7

and the DBS

is now going to be making...
this
It's called the Aston Martin Cygnet, it's based on the Toyota IQ(which is not sold here) and will probably be powered by either the 1.0L or the 1.3L engine from the IQ and achieve something like 65MPG. The car will be sold for £30,000(somewhere around $46,000) and only current Aston Martin owners will be eligible to buy it(don't know who the hell would wanna pay $46K+/- for this thing).
Toyota IQ

Aston Martin will be selling these things to meet the emissions rule by the European Union which will be in place by 2012(kind of like our CAFE rules where each manufacture has to have an average fuel economy rating across their model range). I first heard about this on Top Gear and it got me to thinking, Aston martin is obviously going to be building this thing not because they want to but because they have to. What other manufactures of gas guzzling high luxury/super cars will doing something similar to what Aston is doing, and how will this affect these manufacture's reputation, heritage and look in the eyes of current/future customers.
