Ricer: "The only problem with your 240, is that its mid-engine, you know makes all its power in the middle of the powerband"

Response: "Oh so the civic you drive is one of those no engine cars, because it makes little to no power all the way through, right"

I can't even believe someone said this to me, like they knew about the middle of the powerband thing, but this guy is a moron.

so, if, our cars are front engined, we'd have alot of power at the front of the power band? Wow, that guy is a genius, wish we had more kids like that in our area!

:rolleyes

thats a riot, should have kicked him in the nads and told him to go race a go kart!

ok maybe I just dont understand this right at all, but dont our cars (or every car) at least make most of its torque midway through the RPMs?

Look at this dyno sheet Daunt posted in some old post:

http://www.nissaninfiniticlub....d=194

Is it just a problem with a definetion of terms, cause... well... the peak of the torque really is in the middle there.... Or is it just that the term "midengine" doesnt exist? Explain it to the newb!

LOL, no no. Mid-Engine means mid mounted engine, like an MR2 or ferrari or porsche. Not mid-power band engine.

Mid-engine is a term used to describe when the engine is mounted behind the front axle and in front of the rear. It creates a midship engine where there is a centralized weight balance. Thats about the best I can explain it, a SW20 since the engine is in the backseat is a mid-engine. : ) It has nothing to do with where the engine makes power, it has to do with where its located in the car, FR is in reference to Front Engine-Rear Wheel Drive. : ) Oh yeah, a MR2 is a SW20. : ) MR may or may not be a reference to Mid-engine Rear Wheel Drive. : )

If you guys don't know where the engine on your car is mounted, you shouldnt even be allowed to drive...

what kind of a dumbass is that kid to make a statement like that? Its jackasses like that who make me embarrased to admit I own a honda. I'm just still trying to understand the logic behind that, "mid engine= mid power" WHAT THE HELL? absolutely mind-boggling. Should've run him over with his RWD civic, but I guess you'd have to wait till the "rear" or end of the powerband before you had enough power to do a burnout on his face(?!)

Yeah, I forgot all about that (absent minded as I am)! I was supposed to get down to Dedham and Cape Cod to do some bird hunting, but that fell through this year. I haven't been down towards Boston in a while. I'll be in Milton for Thanksgiving, but it will be a whirlwind trip for half the day. After December I'll have a hell of alot more time on my hands, my schedule sucks right now. Maybe while I'm down there I'll come check out Bentley. I need to transfer to a school with a better reputation and they have a killer accounting program.

Did you get a car yet? Well, I'll let you know wen I can get down there and spend some quality time rippin' up Boston!
