I hit a tree I've had the car for almost a year. I don't post much on here. I was doin 80+ and no one else got hurt. . And I just now realized how stupid I was. And I am never ever even going about 75 again. Now I'm stuck with a 88 Pontiac Fiero. I have to save up to fix it up. h

No. Dry road.. Bad struts and shocks.. Couldn't take it. I'm fine. Minor injuries. I'm more upset about my carthe only thing salvageable is the tailights.. but.

They are crushing her soon. I sold it to the place that towed it to pay my bill for them towing it and holding it until i got better. It was a decent hatch.

dont feel bad. glad to hear your ok. i totaled my beloved 1990 coupe on thursday. my god it had a ton done to it, i just wasnt paying attention coming home from work, and lost controll. hit a car in a turn lane. totaled mine, barely touched hers. i was doing about 35-40. i was soooo pissed. it makes it worse i had just finished rebuilding the motor. it had just gotten to 2400 miles.

no one was injured in my wreck.

1. having a sense of humor in the face of this kind of thing is probably the best way to go. even if he is angry, at least hes not sad and dwelling on it.

2. if i just totalled my car i would be looking to get rid of whatever i could to go towards my next car, which he stated he needs to get running.

its nice you thought of his feelings but lets be a bit more practical about it. it happened. now its time to move on and get feeling better and get back on the road

I don't have much sympathy for people who crash their car because of street racing if you had hurt someone I would have said it's a SHAME you're not dead. I just feel sorry for the tree...

nobody said they were racing. Driving badly maybe, but not racing. Everyone makes mistakes, but people really do need to pay more attention when they are driving. The amount of damage done to that first car is pretty excessive.

Kenrik honestly man quit acting like your some perfect pro at driving or something. We've all made mistakes in our cars. Thats how we learn how to work their limitations to our advantage. And quite frankly there's no point in building up a car and then babying it so I really hope you do more with your car than drive 40mph in the fast lane

exploring your cars limits is different from street racing. if you think street racing is fun and cool, i encourage you to stay away from ACTUAL streets, find a strip or a warehouse complex somewhere where there are no bystanders or traffic. that way your life is the only one your risking. :

on the daily drive to school and work, i drive exactly the speed limit. thats why my insurance is so low, i have no tickets, and i have never been in an at-fault accident. when i want to drive to my car's potential, i take it to unused back roads, empty parking lots, or your best option, the track.

this method pretty much ensures you will be able to enjoy your car much longer and be happy and healthy to do it.

this has been a public service anouncement paid for by all of the poor kids who ran their cars off the road and got 'em totalled

Kenrik.. ive seen a lot fo your posts and your not the smartest driver ever.. claiming you drive your car hard.. shifting at 6-6.5.. taking 15 m/h turns at 45.. something tells me thats pretty stupid too..

He did say he was racing in his original post if I remember correctly because that is why I posted my first comment he has since edited it. I am not saying i'm a saint I have never been in an crash or gotten a ticket after five years of driving.. That does not mean I drive like a granny either. I don't see anything wrong with tosting another car from light to light if you stay under the speed limit and don't do anything foolish. I really don't remember ever saying that I take 15mph turns at 45.. I don't... and shifting at 6-6.5 is rare for me and only in first or secound gear I usually shift at 2800-3000.. 4000 to 4500 if I need to pull out fast.... there is that line when something becomes dangerous to not just yourself but to other people... There is a difference between driving hard and driving stupid... any driving can get you killed I am just sick of the kids who try to emulate Vin Disele and end up hurting other people or themselfs... it's not a movie!

yeah you did say in your gas thread that you usually shift at around 4k. I see nothing wrong with that though if thats your thing. And if the guy was racing, like you claim (and is now concealing it), then he probably had it coming, but if he did it in such a way that he was not endangering anyone but himself, I dont see whats wrong with it. I often drive with friends to an open road between some industry(where nobody ever drives) and race/have fun. Yes its illegal, but no, I am not endangering anyone, and I make sure I know the road well. Everyone should stay close to the speed limit, unless the know the road. Like he said, he wrecked the car hitting a bump. I guarantee that bump would not wreck a car going the speed limit.

I think its shady how the thread creator has edited the racing part out of his thread(if that is indeed the truth, kenrik). He should take responsibility for his actions and learn from them.

Like many have said there is a difference between driving fast and racing.

Yeah I remember reading when this post first went up that he was racing his buddy in crx past 80mph and winning, he crashed into tree somehow.

Anyways, just be thankful it happened on flat ground and that your alive to not make the same mistake again. In idaho if you screw up like that, you have some time to think about it as your flying off the cliff a few thousand feet not to be found for days. You would be lucky to have a tree, sort of an indicator as to where to send the hurse.

Edit: Glad you ok though, the same multiple occurences of "luck" are the only reason im here today as well, live and learn.

People jumped on me for being mean to the guy because they did not read his unedited post... well what did he expect? he posts that he was racing and this is what his car looks like now... I think it was pretty dam stupid! I don't feel very sorry for him... I was out of line saying that if he had hurt someone else that he should have died though.. I would not wish that on anyone...

Once again it was on a dead end road. That has a fire stationa and a watershed on it. There were no pedestrians and it was 3 am. There was nothing but me and my stupidity. So quit saying that I could have killed someone because there was no one.

But myself.

And I'm alive.
