....challenges in a game. Like in Perfect Dark - there were 50 "challenges" that you could complete on top of the storyline, where you had to get kills in a certian amount of time, or use a certian gun to do something, or work with teammates to complete an objective....I really wish newer games like COD would come out with something like this - the Nazi Zombie from COD5 is kinda good, but I would like something I can do on my own - Kinda like the Mile High Club from COD4...challanges were a nice way to play single player, but do something outside of the storyline...

I dunno, I miss them. Maybe I should whip out PD later...

No...the closest thing would be the Nazi zombie thing, but there is no "win" or end to it...

Mercenaries 2 had a s***e load of challenges that had nothing to do with the story, GTA4 also has a ton of challenges. You obviously aren't paying attention to the games you have or you're playing games that don't have challenges implemented into the game. Either way challenges are still out there and most even give you achievement points for them.

Portal has good challenges that unlock once you finish the game.

I really enjoyed portal - but there aren't many games like it.

GTA is a waste of time - i hate all of those games. Mercenaries sucked as well. I'm not looking for "in game" challenges or side quests, I'm looking for a flat out separate part of the game - skills challenges. The ninja gaiden mission mode is really good. PD was really good. I dunno...dev's just dont really make what I want most of the time, hence why I only keep 4-5 games on my shelf at a given time.

Oh, don't forget about the VR Missions for the original Metal Gear Solid if you have a PSX and like MGS.

Sadly.

And I agree about most developers not making what I want to play.Actually, that's something we share with most of my favorite developers. Many of the best like Blizzard North (RIP) and Valve have said that the reason they started making games is that no one was making the games they wanted to play, so they decided to make those games themselves.
