Now i gotta buy and amp any ideas ?

Its one box with the two 12s and its wired internally with 1ohm . About the amp my boy that has has systems before is telling me to get a 1000 watt mono amp you think that is to much ?gameguru1360 wrote:it's an ok deal for 2 of them if you like kickers. Personally I don't think they reach the lows all that well, but if this is the first time you're having subs, then it's not too bad of a deal.
Are you planning on putting only 1 box in your trunk or both?? are these dual 4ohm or dual 2ohm L5's?? You're going to need a 500-600 watt mono amp to power them although you can bridge a 2 channel amp as well
Head room is good. So I will agree.gameguru1360 wrote:no it's better to have an amp that overpowers a sub
Um, nope. Clipping will not damage speakers (it's not the clipping that causes the damage, it's that the amp is actually over powering them). Too little power does not destroy speakers.gameguru1360 wrote:that way you don't risk clipping your amp and burning your voice coils when underpowering subs because you will tend to raise the amp gain too much when you think it's not loud enough
Depends on the amp. You can set it by ear listening for clipping (assuming you have checked that it isn't too powerful). Or, you can use a multimeter to be more precise.gameguru1360 wrote:you should probably not turn the amp gain past 9 o' clock.
I'd love to see this. I've never been able to recreate it...gameguru1360 wrote:I've clipped my amps when underpowering subs and have actually burned up voice coils when doing so after I've raised the amp gain which is not a volume knob by the way.
