Has anyone put these tires on their M45? If so did you like them?

YK420 was a "Discount Tire-only" model that went over VERY poorly...

In fact, I contacted Yokohama about them and they refunded me 100% of the purchase price.

I'm guessing the 520 is a similar deal, but I could be wrong.

What are the specifics on it? Size, treadwear index, load rating, etc?

If they are just another "house brand" that is essentially identical to the YK420 that Discount Tire sold, then avoid them like the plague. They are basically cheap tires that exemplify the "you get what you pay for" catchphrase all too well!

There are a few stories here about tire failures that nearly killed the people driving heavy cars like the Q and M. Do a search for YK420 in our archives!

Thank you for the feed back. I'm a little surprised however because all the reviews were great. I couldn't find anything bad about the tire.245/45-18 100VR XL 520 treadwearA tractionA tempGuess I'll do a little more research.

Thank you again.

520 treadwear means they're Granny tires, built to last 80K miles. Too hard for real driving. Stay in the 280-400 range.

A traction? Weak.

A Temp? Weak as well.

Those reviews were written by people who know nothing about tires and how much they contribute to the driving experience.

Only documented on this board blowout that caused a wreck on the highway in a Q45 was a Yokohama 420.

Only Yokohama I would trust on a heavy V8 is the AVS dB S2.

Remember, the tires are the only part of your car that interface with the road. Cheap out here and not much else matters no matter how good the rest of the suspension and brakes are.

Check out the listing (spreadsheet) in my Basic Specifications sticky at the top of this forum too!

Lots of relevant tire listings in there ... the Avon Tech M500 and Dunlop Direzza that Greg mentioned are there too!

Thanks for all the feed back, I'm going with a different tire for sure. Already canceled the Yokohamas.
