Hi guyz...

I have noticed lately that my black-top sr is making this wierd ticking sound, coming from the injector's area, near the intake manifold !

i know it might be the lifters or the rocker arm..but i doubt it ...

I mean, will injectors do a loud ticking sound when they start to die ???

the sound become louder when i WOT the car few times ...btw, the sound isn't constant, the interval between the ticks are like every 2 secs, then after 5 secs, then after lets say 1 secs..like it's on random timings

If it's the lifter or the rocker arms, does it have anything to do with the oil i have changed to?

I have been using normal castrol Magnatec oil,and i just shifted to TITAN FULLY SYNTHETIC 5-50 oil, so could this be the problem of the ticking sounds ???

Thanx

Iv heard some pretty loud injectors before, you can just check to see if the lifters have air in them.Pull the valve cover up and push down on each rocker arm on the lifter side and if it moves any more then 1mm then it has air in it.

yea man..i'll check this out tonight...i'll push on them and see if they play more than 1 mm..if they do,,can i bleed them ???

just put in mind that the ticking happens on random timings, every few seconds . ....

and only comes on when the car is fully warmed up ...

Yes you can bleed them. You'll have to remove them and put them and hold them in oil and use something small enough (paper clip?) to push the valve inside of it down and itll release the air. Be sure to keep all your rockers and shims in the same places

ok guys...

I have drained the 5w-50 synth oil,,and put a thicker castrol normal oil 10w-40 ,the sound is completely gone now !

I guess the previous titan was too thin maybe ...

thanx anyway

That is awesome about the weight of the oil. I didn't even think to do that. I also have the ticking and I run 0w30. I didn't think it could be helping the ticking. I will change my oil ASAP. Thanks.

OK...

after using this oil for few dayz...last night i was coming back home....when i noticed the ticking sound again, so i parked, popped the hood, and my main fan was off"wire was loose"... i reconnected it,and after few secs, the ticking sound goes away,so i'm guessing, when the fan went off,the oil temp increased therefore making the oil too thin to lubricate..as soon as the fan came back and started to cool again, the sound went away !

so,i think it's time to buy some oil upgrades,so i'll get the greddy oil pan and need an oil cooler .

i know about the blitz kit,but it's too expensive,any alternatives ????
