ok, so the project from hell continues. finally got power to the ecu but the fuel pump still wasnt kicking on. i traced power all the way back to the pump itself(pulled the pump out of the tank and checked that as well) Its a new walboro pump, i purchased it about last october or so when i was expecting the engine to arrive in the first place, but never started the vehicle up with it in. So anyway, theres power to the pump and i tested the voltage across the pump itself so its grounded good. The only thing that can be bad is the pump correct? and hopefully walboro will be nice enough to send me another one even though its been about a year.

also, all this talk about the ingitor chip, i apparently dont have one, did the series II motors have ignitor chips?

series 2 do not have igniters

and is there any way you could do an amperage draw test on the fuel pump? it would tell you for sure whats going on.

i dont have a way of checking the draw from the pump at this time, but reguardless it should still kick on should it not? i had 11.68 volts right at the wire connected to the pump itself, and didnt get as much as a noise.

did you check the black/pink wire hook up yet? Also, keep in mind the pump runs off a relay and a signal from the ecu. i'd start with the relay. if you need more help post again or you can get me on yahoo messenger at [email protected]

did you check the ground yet?

well, i st arted by checking the voltage at the relay. the signal wire had voltage, and both switched power wires had voltage, but for some reason, the black and yellow wire sending power to the pump only had .2 volts coming out, so i switched the relay and it was the same thing. so finallly i got upset and cut the relay out of the critcuit. now to do this, i just connected the signal wire from the ecu to the black and yellow power wire, but realized there was no voltage accross it(even though there was voltage across the black/pink wire before). so i tested the voltage across the relay again, and for some reason, even though i cut the signal wire there was still voltage going into the relay at the signal wire. So i tested the other half of the black/pink wire where i cut it(the KA side of the wire) and there was voltage across it. So for some reason, the power goign through the signal wire is coming from the KA side of the harness(ignition switch im assuming) not the ecu side, and it seems like it splits somewhere in the harness sending power to the relay, and also sending power to the ecu. So even though this was confusing, i just connected the hot side of the signal wire to the black/yellow wire carrying power to the pump, and still had nothing. so i went back to the plug at the pump and there was voltage there, adn then took the pump out of the tank and checked the voltage across the pump itself, and there was 11.6 volts across the pump. then to check the ground i unplugged the plug at the pump and checked the voltage across the plug, and it was good, so the pump has a good ground and also has power, but it doesnt do a single thing. sorry if most of this is the same as the first post in this thread but i was just trying to answer ur suggestions kuillin_drifer

ok, just wanted to let you know i got the pump to work and the car fired right up! the probelm however is this. I found out that the signal to the relay is a ground signal. apparently i wasnt getting enough voltage to the pump before, and once i ground the black and pink wire it started to pump fuel. The problem here is though, why isnt the ecu grounding the fuel pump relay? i checked all of the ground wires going to the ecu, and they all appear to be ok. now, im thinking that maybe from the ecu getting wet in the fire something possibly happned to it. if thats the only problem then its not a big deal i can just have it on a switch or something, but if the ecu is fried then its no fun at all. any clue what else would cause it not to ground?
