Alright im trying to determine if i should buy NGK iridium sparkplugs tomorrow or keep my autolite platinums.

My problem is that my cars seem to idle funny....to me(although does any one know what the stock idle speed should be? mine hangs around 500rpms and it fluctuates) Also when i start my car in the morning I can smell unburnt gas and white smoke comes out of my tailpipe for a few mins.

So could it be the spark plugs? If not what else?

Grab new plugs, then check the idle- if it's still too low and not idling smoothly, there's an air bleed screw on the throttle body, turn it clockwise (I think that's the direction) a full turn at a time to see if it helps. You shouldn't need to go more than a few full turns to raise it up to 650 or 750rpm.

and make sure you go with NGK and not autolites. autolite makes a great plug . . . for fords.
