Either the oilpump desintegrated (not likely) or your stock steel oil pan is dented enough to pinch the oil pickup (common problem). What ever the case, absolutely do not run the motor or it will die a horrible death if it hasnt already.

Sorry your first post on nico is of such a problem, but welcome to the boards anyway

He said oil PAN not pump. But you have to take it off in order to really tell. Even the SLIGHTEST little dent can cause your pickup to be blocked. To test the oil pump disconnect the injectors and/or coilpacks and have someone crank the motor as you put your hand on the pickup. If it sucks your hand then its good.

umm they're telling u this because u said the top end was dry, not because of the deisel sound.

deisel sound maybe because a lot of moving parts are dry

Did you prime the engine properly? Sounds like you just started it up dry. Unplug the injectors and spark plugs and crank it to see if oil makes it to the head (if you still have the valve cover off). Might spray a little but at least you know. I hope it is lack of oil thats causing the dielel sound. Usually that sound comes from a bad bearing in the engine.

turns out that the oil pan isnt dented at all and i still dont know whats wrong.. how would you go about cleaning out the lines that send oil to the head??
