Alright now it's my turn to post my SR build. I have an 89 240sx. My KA finally threw in the towel. Now being the poor college student I am. I thank my parents for the money front.

Ok about the build. I ordered a 93 Black top. All things included but the down pipe and intercooler . I need help to put this in as I have close to no tools and I don't know exactly what I'm doing.

I have a few questions: What are necessary changes and what are nice upgrades? (ex: Bigger fuel pump, gauges)

Finally does anyone live near or in Reno? I would love help and guidance.

if your getting a front clip (ie motor still in the chassi) the only thing your gonna need is a fuel pump. the stock ka fuel pump is to weak for the sr. but that being said you could get a front clip that is missing a few parts.... the only things i have for mine is a front mount ic, fuel pump, clutch, and radiator.. just make sure you get the wiring harness to with the ignitor chip. wont get very far without it lol. shoot me an email if you need any direction with it. id be happy to walk you though it. o and one more thing make sure they do a compression test before they send out the set. some places will send you a craptastic set and make you do a hilbilly jumping bean dance before they will accept it back. and if you can get a vid of the start up that would be good to. that way you know everything was in working condition when they shipped it out!

I didn't get the front clip so I was told i needed a fuel pump, intercooler, and downpipe. The company told me this was all i needed so I'm flying off that. The motor came in yesterday and it's lookin really good! I will post pics when i learn how too. lol. I'm so stoked to put it in!

So far parts I have bought to complete the install are: Water temp and boost gauges from Greddy, Downpipe from Greddy, ACT 6 puck clutch, Walbro fuel pump, Greddy RS BOV, Flex A Lite dual electric fan with temp sensor, Ebay intercooler. I'm excited to get this in. I don't think I'll be able to put it in as I have no experience with this. So I found someone with over 10 installs under his belt. So I'm lookin at havin it in within a week or two!!

wow it really sounds like your diving into this with a blinfold on...ignitor chip?,mafs?, compression test?boost gauge? im just letting u know cause you sound as uninformed about sr's and whats "realy needed" as i did and def payed for it get everything you need yourself (cheaper than letting your mechanic mark it up on you) then bring it to him ,but not before he can give you a set price ...so theres no suprises...like i got , GL

Check the classifieds on NICO first, then the other forums and ebay. Some of the vendors sell those parts too.

Make you have the following:- SR engine wiring harness.- SR ECU.

Spend some money and get a good engine management system like an Apexi SAFC.

Check out this web site for good SR info:

If you really want to spend some time on your swap i'd additionally replace all your gaskets, belts, seals, new headgasket (cosworth, cometic, etc.), ARP headstuds, SAFC, I wouldn't buy ebay parts but thats just me, you can pick up a greddy ls spec FMIC kit for $425, motor mounts. Just a few things I would add to your list of parts....but thats just how I would do it.

Oh tell me about it. I have my dream motor in mind down to every detail but I am a poor college student and this is mostly being fronted by my mom. lol.

What would be the best engine management system? I like the Apexi one but I don't really know. I want one that i can use through my laptop.

rogoman- Thanks for the advice. It has the right wiring and ecu. I will check out that website.

I need a radiator hose and the bov flange welded to the hot pipe. And I will probley just have to guesstimate speed by gear and rpm for a lil bit. lol. Cuz I'm broke. It should be done real soon. I might be coming up with Chris on the 26th or 29th i forgot what he said if that's cool with everyone.
