symptoms: cars drive ok at low throttle 25- 35%(-20 to -10 vac) but sputters/ breaks up like it's hitting a rev limiter at anything over that in every gear. idle always had a little mis in it but i'm assuming because i asked for a safe base tune. car runs rich as a-rod but i've felt this car pull before and i want that feeling back. i still drive it but i'm only reving it to about 3-4k rpm then shifting.

so you all know what i'm working with. just to refresh, i just rebuilt the motor (got 300+ miles on it since rebuild) and finally got it running. as i was breaking her in (getting on it a little) all seemed to be going well. then she starts with this sputtering sh*t. first i thought oh maybe spark blowout (and it still may be). i'll be addressing spark later with an msd blaster ss coil i have sitting in the passenger seat. the rotor and cap are new but the plugs are from my old setup about 1 1/2 years old. i took the plugs out and gapped the down from .35 to .32 with no improvements. i then gapped them to .28 and still no improvements. the vac/ boost gauge reads -20vac at idle so i don't think it's a boost leak (but it'll test it anyways). car is currently @12psi so i have to turn up the boost so it won't be so rich up top when i fix this problem. oh yeah one thing that was weird was my american made new holley fpr's top was loose and spewing fuel on my shock tower. i thought that would be my problem so i tightened it down but again no cookies for me. i noticed also fuel psi was low at about 30psi so i bumped it back up to 40psi. nothing. i'm gonna chage out the mafs, o2, coolant temp sensor and wire in that blaster ss coil. if that doesn't fix it i'm gonna cry a bit.

sorry all for the long post just need a little help.

ok so i changed the mafs, wired up the blaster ss coil, changed the o2 sensor and it's still doing it. on a brighter note it's breaking up so much smoother. lol i guess that coil is doin it's job. i was gonna boost leak test it but someone misplaced my friends. i'm just gonna hafta make my own. this makes me belive it is a boost leak because it's only doing it now going into boost.

alright i changed the tps and it's not getting any better. question does the tps have to sit at a certain angle to work properly?

any help from anyone would be greatly appreciated.

yeah so i found two leaks. one was actually on the intake pipe, plugged that up and found another. the second one was on the turbo. the compressor side to be exact. i guess when i clocked it i didn't tighten it enough or it's cracked. well it was fun while it lasted. lol. time for an upgrade in about a year or so. gt2871r i guess. thanks for veiwing this thread folks.

i found the problem but thanks. it's actually a bolt hole for the stock wastegate bracket. it goes all the way into the turbine housing. i'm gonna take the turbo off saturday and have it welded closed. i'm also gonna take the housing off and see if it's cracked or anything. now that i remembered i think i stripped out one of the bolt holes so i'm gonna helicoil that bolt hole also.

well i found yet another problem. fuel pressure drops anytime i hit the throttle. i have a holley adjustable fpr and 660cc injectors. i pulled each inj clip and the all work good. i'm thinking i have to hardwire my fuell pump (walbro 255) as it's still wired to the stock wiring.

well the sputtering is back, i guess i'll change the pump sock again and see if this fixes it again. if it doesn't, oh well i'll just have to figure it out all over again. lol
