I have a 96 240sx with ABS and NO LSD. Does anyone know if a 98 240sx LSD with ABS is a direct bolt in. The part numbers are different according to the dealership but they are not sure what the difference is.

On a separate note what does the ABS on the diff do? I assume it measures the speed of the diff for comparison to the wheels to determine slipage? If you disconnect it does it cause the brake part of the abs not to work?

Thanks Jim

Hmm, your supposed to have LSD if you have ABS. Did you do the tire test? Anyway, a 98 diff should bolt in with no problem. The little sensor on the diff measures speed in comparison to the wheels.

ABS on the S14 gave the option for the LSD... LE's also had the option for the LSD.

You just need the output flanges on the diff. if it's out of an ABS car as well then it will bolt right up. The ABS wires should plug right up too.

nismofreak, thanks. I went to the Nissan dealership and looked at the parts computer with the service manager and for whatever reason the part numbers for the lsd changed AFTER the 96 model year. It had one part number for 95&96 and one for 97+. Maybe a change in the ABS design?

nismo1182, from my searching on this site only in 95 was the abs bundled with the lsd, 96 on you could have abs w/o lsd.
