Car: Fixing problems with my car!

Post

It seems my car runs great for a few days and then...a problem. The problem of this week-

- Strange whining noise. Gets louder and more high pitched as the rpm's go up.

It's been really cold and snowy lately therefore there's been a lot of salt dumping. It seems like because of the cold and salt that a lot of other people I know have been having some strange noises.

-Question- What do you think this could be? Where would be a good place to start looking?

I filled up my ps fluid, seeing as that will sometimes make a whining noise if low, but that didn't do the trick. Suggestions anyone? Thanks in advance guys.

just pitching an idea hear, but did you leave your AC intact? it could be the clutch driven unit is going bad. also, it could be a belt. the cold might have made one tighten a little more.

Since you said that the whining gets louder as the RPMs increase, it can be attributed to a engine driven belt or device. My guess would be the alternator.

No, my ac isn't in tact. I might look into that. I was possibly thinking power steering because my hicas light occasionally comes on since the whining started. Not sure, but thanks for the responses. It gives me somewhere to start the search. If you think of anything else, feel free to let me know. Thanks.
