i'm screwed. the motor is out of the clip and i still can't find a SR HICAS PS pump. i emailed HT about a pump and they said they're all out. they said that I can use the non hicas sr ps pump, but i have to plug up the lines running to the HICAS. anyone done this before?

Is there a difference between the SR HICAS and non-HICAS pumps? I haven't looked at my SR pump too much, but I'm 99% sure the 180SX it came from had HICAS. The gauge cluster has an idiot light that says HICAS over it. I didn't really see any lines running towards the back of the car(3 hard lines on the JDM driver's side-right, 1 or 2 might be brakes, is the other HICAS?), but don't even really know what to look for.

Do I have to plug up anything to use this pump on my non-HICAS S13? I haven't really seen this covered, and yes, HICAS does suck. :)

I got the HICAS pump and I have a non-HICAS S13. Here is what I did to use it. On the HICAS side (the rear of the pump) take that banjo bolt out and plug it with an M15 or M16 oil pan plug. I forgot which size it was... one of those two. Just goto the hardware store and try them. Works like a charm. Make sure you get the washer thing it comes with.

After plugging in that side, there are 4 small bolts that hold the HICAS side of the pump to the P/S pump. unbolt and open it up. Inside you will see some circular thing with a bunch of little square/rectangle things inside. When you look at it, they will look like thin rectangles but that is only because you are viewing it from the side that is exposed.

Get some needlenose pliers and pull out all of those little squares. I do not remember how many there are... 8-10 perhaps. Then bolt that side back together. By removing those squares you are disabling that turbine from creating pressure on the HICAS side of the pump. And by plugging it, you are making sure nothing is going out.

Works like a charm.

won't a KA hicas pump work? The pumps look identical, it is just the bracketry on the motor that is different. I have a KA hicas pump somewhere if you want to try it...
