So I've recently joined the pathfinder club. After taking it in to Advance Auto, because of the check engine light, I found out I had code P1145. After reading the long history of posts and following my Haynes manual, I switched the left and right bank sensors and brought it back in. Their computer read the same as before two P1145 codes (one of these pending) and a P1140 code.

I figured that the original left sensor was bad and replaced it. Tonight I brought it back in to get cleared and got new codes read. I had it even worse. After replacing the left bank sensor I still have the P1145 code, I also have the P1140 (which will need to be replaced), but now I also have a P1136 code.

I haven't been able to find the P1136 code mentioned in any forum for a Pathfinder. My Haynes manual says its a "Intake Valve Timing Control Solenoid Valve" (left bank).

Is this the solenoid behind the P1145? If so does this explain why my P1145 code is still on after I've replaced it and cleared the codes? Anyone know of a place or site I can get one for a fair price?

Could you please tell me exactly what you did? My 2002 Pathfinder has the same code (P1145), and I was told to take it back to the dealer. (It is, of course, past the warranty period...) I was also told (by Strauss Auto) that it will be an expensive repair.

I have a Infiniti QX4 2002. When I start the engine big clouds of white smoke comes out of the Exhaust. It does no happen all the time. I took it to a mechanic who told me I would PROBABLY need a new engine. I cannot believe a mechanic who just matter of factly says I might need a new engine. HELP!!!!

I am a new user and wanted to write and tell you how useful and informative this information has been. I am sure isaved several hundred dollars by repling the position sensor myself. Thanks again you all are doing a great job!!!

Where is the "sticky" you are referring to? and the diagram?

This is an ancient topic. What is the issue you're having?

I have a 2001 Infiniti QX4 that popped codes P1145 & P1320. I changed the PASSENGER side (RH) cam sensor which I found is not interchangeable with the left or drivers side cam sensor. Reset the codes and I still have both codes showing up. Any suggestions on what to do next?

The sensors should be interchangeable. What's the part number of the sensor you purchased?

I am now getting this same code P 1140 on my 2001qx4. I have just rebuilt the motor after having the power valve screw ingestion problem. I have it back together and running but now I get the P 1140 code it seems to run fine but I haven't driven it very far yet, since I need to smog it before I get a new sticker.
I have switched the sensors right for left and the code does not change still 1140 not 1145, so I assume the sensors are both ok. What else could trigger this code?

If you check out your factory service manual, it has all the possible sensors and/or harnesses that could be responsible for throwing this code. If I remember correctly, I believe the crankshaft position sensor was one of them.
