i've done a lot of searching and haven't found an answer to my question, so bear with me please.

i bought a set of used coilpacks/harness for my rb20 and they have different plugs than the ones currently on my motor. i was under the impression that all rb20det's were the same, but apparently they changed a few things on the newer ones? anyways, here are some pictures to illustrate even though i'm sure you all know what i'm talking about.

ignitor (only style i've ever seen for rb20)

the connection i'm talking about, 7pin

and the connection on the harness:

i've got a couple questions here. first, did i buy parts from the wrong motor? are these coilpacks and harness most likely from a different rb motor?

second, i want to make a short jumper from the new harness to my old ignitor rather than hack up the the harness; does this sound like a good idea? i don't have a lot of experience with wiring so while it sounds reasonable to me, it wouldn't surprise me if there was an obvious reason why it might be retarded.

assuming my plan isn't retarded, where does everybody get connectors from? i'd rather not hack apart other used stuff to get them and i'm not averse to spending a few dollars on this. if i do make a jumper, are the pins on the other style of ignitor the same as on mine, or will i have to rearrange them? every diagram i've seen shows the 123456E pinout, but then people say that it's actually 123E456... i haven't been able to find fsm's for any version of the rb20 yet, but i'm still looking.

1) you might want to resize the pics...they're ginormous.2) that is an rb20 ignitor...for a preupdate z32/ceffiro/r32 using the OLD rb20 gear. for all intents and purposes its the same ignitor but with diffrent connections, honestly not worth cutting up the harness just to go to the old style connector which was prone to corrosion and failure.3) you could make a jumper harness as the pins are indeed the same but imho its not worth the aghervation it involves.

If you have coils with square connectors then they are from the redtop series rb20.I'd get your money back tbh, parts arnt worth the time involved to make them work.

thanks for the info

the coilpacks i got match the harness, so unless i'm mistaken all i need to do is adapt the harness to fit my ignitor. it doesn't seem like it should be all that difficult to build a short jumper, if i had to do it for all the packs as well then i can see how that would be kind of tedious. i agree that it would not be worth hacking up the new(er) harness.

so where can i find new/used connectors? what type of aggravation am i likely to run into? i can see how having a jumper/adapter in there is just one more thing to fail after a while, but building it isn't that hard is it?
