hello all, i have just purchased my first nissan 240sx. its a 91 with a ka24de with only 36k miles on it. anyway, the passenger headlight will not close. now here is what i have experienced from messing around it.

if the headlight switch is off and the retractable headlight switch is on i can manually turn the motor 4 times in the counter clockwise manner and the passenger headlight will close automatically and open automatically.

if the headlight switch is on, then the rhs is off, both headlights are on, and 4 cw turns the motor closes the light, the light turns off, and the motor opens the light as it turns back on.

if both the rhs and the headlight switch are off then i can rotate the motor until the light closes all the way.

i have heard 3 relays click for sure, the one in the passenger side relay box. and the two relays that are the 2nd and 3rd furthest away from the fender on the drivers side. the relay that is closest to the fender in the drivers side relay box doesnt seem to click or click very strongly (if that makes sense). i have traced the wires in the headlight circuit (nistech's) tutorial. and both the orange and orange and black wires get power throughout the circuit (from the time control unit all the way to the diode box behind the radio). everything checks out. with that relay that i suspected was not working i switched it with a known working relay and that didnt help. so if anyone would have an idea as to whats going on and inform me it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Justin

have you checked the motor itself? maybe it's going bad on you.

That is what I suspect but how do I check the motor to be sure?

it's probably the brushes in the motor that have worn out. a quick search on google would probably turn up a good method for fixing that problem. you might try the 240sxforums site, i'm sure someone on there has made a thread about it.
