I've been having some problems on my s13 (No suprise...)1991 240sx KA24DE

Well every now and then, when i start the car, it idles funny, and if i push on the throttle, the car will bog out. I just let it idle bad for about 30secs and i finally fixes itself and no more bad idle. Well yesterday, It did the same thing, only the car died out and didnt want to start again. finally after waiting a while and turning the key to accesories (for the fuel pump) a few times, it started right up without a problem. But today the same thing happened. I tried to even do what i did earlier with the fuel pump, but it didnt work,. i looked at common stuff, (Fuel pump fuse, fuel pressure after the filter etc.) and went to try the car agian. It fired right up.I can;t be driving this thing around with it being unreliable like this o.o and its my daily.

Any ideas?

I'd replace the fuel filter and check for a clog in the fuel lines. Have you replaced the fuel pump or is it the original one?Clean your MAF. A dirty one can make an engine bog and die.

I recently swapped the motor from shells due to an accident.Fuel filter was replaced back then. How should i go about checking the lines? Think I should just seafoam the gas tank/lines? if the maf was dirty, woudlt it always be acting that way? not on just random startups? Its the fuel pump from the previous shell (OEM one)I hear it prime up when i turn the key to acc, but it could be going out,, right?

Hook up an inline fuel pressure gauge and check it idle and at wot.Are you getting any codes?Good idea on the Seafoam, but it'd best to replace that fuel pump.

Wot? The CEL Isn't on so no codes. What about the fpr? What does that do, I'm unfamiliar with what it does

wide open throttle

Fpr is like a valve that allows a certain pressure to be maintained inside the rail.Something like that. Chances are your fpr and fuel pump is old and fatigue. Get it replaced if it hasn't ever been done so.

Yeah that's what all my friends were thinkng. I was trying to leave Dunkin Dougnuts when it acted up again. They think its fuel pressure regulator or the pump. Just as i thought. Should I might as well be buying a Walboro 255?Could the ECU be going out?Because I don't understand why after a while of trying over and over to oget the car on, it will finally just start as if there were no problems.I'll end up replacing the pump, and seafoaming the gas tank. And if it still exists, try the FPR, and then the test the ECU with a friends, Sound good?

Check the ECU for codes. Clean the IACV that could be your problem.

Solved.Replaced fuel pump with a spare one I luckily found.I haven't had the startup problem since I put it on yesterday, and the car pulls ALOT faster than before. Runs stellar. I'm guessing it was the pump for two reasons:Havent had the problem sinceAnd the motor has more power(more fuel)The other one must had be dying out. Thanks for all the input guys. )
