Alrighty guys, for the ones who don't know, I did a stock S14 sr swap in my 97 kouki.

Only little things done, i'm running about 9 psi, which is plenty enough, SMIC, lightened flywheel, just little things really.

So, I know my problem with the oil pressure, my oil pick up tube is bent, i have the parts sitting in the car and they are to be put in tomorrow.

But my main concern right now is coming around the transmission. If i have the car running within 2500 rpm (cruising of course, not sitting still), I hear a noise that sounds like a pressure cooker cap, (you know, "chika chika chika". Quite odd, and I do not notice any power difference or anything. Also, I figured I would mention this, I DID set my clutch a little to far out, and it slips a bit when engaging (letting out the clutch), even at the top of the pedal.

I do also believe I need to replace clutch master, could this be the sound?

Anywho, figured I would get everyone up to date.

Oh wait, another question, how do you check fluid level in trans?

Thanks again guys!

Not sure what kind of noise you are describing, but you are sure it's coming from the transmission? Does it make the sound if the clutch is depressed and you rev it to 2500?

To check the fluid level of a manual trans you have to pull out the oil fill plug on the side of the trans, and on level ground if the fluid is level with the bottom of the fill hole, or just barely dripping out, it's full.

Why do you think you need to replace the clutch master? Why isn't your pedal adjusted correctly? (Not fully engauging the clutch)

the clutch pedal was, in my eyes, adjusted correctly. Though I wasn't thinking of complete engagement, at the time I thought have the clutch engage/disengage at the top of the pedal would allow a quicker throw (because pedal doesn't travel as far to disengage).

I assume it might be clutch master because, after reading install guides, I noticed a lot of people said the clutch master on SR trans is normally no good; or close to it.

You mean the slave cylinder on the transmission?Well if thats bad it could be leaking, and causing your pedal not to come all the way back up.

You can look at it on the passanger side of the transmission have someone in the car and press the pedal down and you'll see it move

Ha, I meant that.

I can actually hear the noise coming through the shifter. Feel the vibration. Possible throw-out bearing THAT bad?

check your fluid levels, it sounds like your main transmission bearing might not be getting oiled... FYI most after market t.o. bearings make more noise then oem. If your fluid level is good, the knocking isn't in the bell housing area, then I would suspect a possible t.o. bearing. Re adjust you pedal to oem specs or you will toast the clutch..240sx have very little room +/- for clutch adjustment.

Sounds like an internal problem to me.
