Just noticed that there's a Q50 forum now, right after reading the Consurmer Reports comparo of the the Q50 vs the IS250. Not much activity over there, apparently for good reason. There's a post from Oct 22 with no comments, calling out the CR report, which essentially said that the most redeeming feature of the Q50 is that it sucks less than the IS250 (and that the G37 is still a better car than either).

well-that-s-unfortunate-t581450.html

I have not decided yet whether the 2011 G37x is my last car, but my local Infiniti dealer decided that if there's another, it won't be an Infiniti. They were a 20 minute drive from me, and moved to 45 minutes away. Nothing personal, but it won't work for me.

There have been some folks around here that I've considered friends. Y'all be good.

Who says you have to have an Infiniti to post here? Heck, half the people here don't even spell it correctly. I post here and I have one of those sucky IS250s. :rotflmao

Some people need to learn that lack of horsepower doesn not equal suck. :squint:

Yup...Infiniti hit the mark with the 2005-2008 G35. The early G37s were good, but needed more HP. Now, they are veering away from that, much like Nissan is with it's insistence on using CVT tranns. Keep those in the electric vehicles only please....and perfect technology before implementing it (I'm looking at you electronic steering!)

Yeah, no reason to leave. My next coupe won't be a Infiniti either. Will probably replace the sedan with another G37 though for now.

Figuring I'll need a four door next, my next one will be an M45 probably, maybe 35x depending on price.

I plan to keep my 2008 G37S coupe until I am too old to drive anything but a wheelchair. With luck, that will be another 20 years.

If I had to replace my G37S, candidates would be
  • Porsche Cayman. Probably the base model rather than the S. The base is substantially cheaper and still plenty fast. The 2007 I test drove before ordering my G37S handled very well. What I couldn't tolerate was the constant drone from the mid engine.
  • Subaru BRZ. Similar to the Cayman but cheaper and slower. The BRZ is better equipped than the FRS.
  • Ford Fiesta ST. I test drove a normal Fiesta last year before buying a Focus SE for my wife. The only thing wrong with the Fiesta was not enough power. The turbo in the ST should fix that.
  • Cadillac ATS. The way BMW is going, I think the ATS is a better 3-series car. It would have the V6, not the turbo 4, which would mean taking an automatic transmission. Although I prefer manuals, GM's automatics are the best of the breed.
I'm not a fan of Audi, partly because the local dealer sucks sewage. I think they are too complicated and expensive to keep running after the warranty expires. Ditto for BMW. BMW also seems to be focused on short term possession, either lease or trade when the warranty expires. Porsche isn't cheap, either, but one can minimize the exposure (and the purchase price) by keeping the option list short. I wouldn't go beyond xenon headlights and metallic paint. No PDK transmission or PASM active suspension.

Right now? 2012 CTS-V coupe would be my first choice. I started looking for one but considering the sedan is 6 years old and hitting 100k it's probably time to swap it first. Gotta be practical.

Looking for either a 2012 G37xS or a 2011-2012 M37xS as a replacement for the sedan. Some good deals at certain large dealerships.

After the last few GM cars I owned, I don't think I could ever go back. David's Vette was in the shop more than it was out.

Kendall....sucks sewage. :lolling:

Our Lexus dealer sux too. When you pay that kind of dough for a car you want some pampering. My Infiniti dealership was great but they moved too far away.

I found an '09 M35x with 52k that I love and only $20k, but can't be doing that now. Already selling one car, no more car musical chairs for a while.

SWEET!! I looked into the CTS-V's too...pricy. The coupe is very small...virtually no backseat. Have you looked at the Z28 Camaro, Boss Mustang, or an SRT? They make a "core" SRT Challenger that has the 392 engine, but no options...MSRP is 39k

I would never own a Camaro or Stang. While the SRT is interesting it's really not what I want. CTS-V is about the only thing I'm interested in but have decided to replace the sedan first, so, a faster coupe is on the back burner.
