So i see some of you have gotten a little bit mad by my posts and what not. Well maybe I will just introduce myself so you guys give me a little bit of leeway. :rockon
My name for all apparent nicname is mattback, being a basis off my real name of matt. I've had this nickname ever since my freshman year in high school. It's from an ancient #300zx chatroom off of irc.atrocity.net. Many moons ago. I've been part of the nissan community since then.
My first car was a 1985 nissan 300zx non turbo base model that had 157k miles on it when i saved up half of what it cost($2000.) Little did I know at the age of 15 what this car was part of, or what legacy it had. Only when I did I learned that the Z31 was the lost generation so to say about performance aftermarket support.
my non turbo motor blew my juinor year decimating a rod through the starter. it was then that I decided to turbo swap. I wont include details, but I'll just say I won't do it again, not on a car without a great platform.
Fuel control was handled by SDS digital fuel injection em3-6f system which i installed, tuned, and troubleshooted almost entirely by me. The timing maps, fuel maps, and boost settings are all straight from my 20 year old self. Granted more power can be realized than the 360whp / 421wtq that I ran @ 16psi, but This car was my daily driven car to and from college (across the big bridge) every day.
The 'old Z' ended up going mid 12s @ 112-114 mph on 205/60/hr15 tires repeatedly, but also repeatedly breaking evrything on the car from the flywheel back, multiplle times. List of Parts i've destroyed.HKS lightweight flywheelClutchmasters clutchbellhousingtwo fs5w71c transmissionsone shifter a driveshafttwo r200 differentialsan axle+diff+hub+entire subframe destruction was my last major cause for curbing the car this time. basically when an axle flies off and starts banging arounda nd ripping apart itself and disentegrating everything in its path at 100mph while connectd to the diff not muchsurvives at all :thinker At which point I have joined the nissan 240sx camp. Always enjoying the cars and having many friends in the area with the 240s, I finally got the chance to drive one around, and I really liked the way it handled. Also, with a slough of aftermarket parts available for the car, there was no reason why i shouldn't make a 240sx my next car. So that's what I did. I'm finishing up on my race car (an 89 coupe completely rid of the comforts of any normal car) with one of the first running representations of a v6 in the states. so yay, the hopes are that the car should do very low 11s by just horsepower and torque ratings of my previous figures. I feel that with a little bit of C16, and alot of hope, the car may have the horsepower necessary to accelerate its 2300lb mass to a 10 second run, (even if the 10 means a 10.9x or what not) on a stock motored vg. I've been a forced induction nut for a while now, my specialtys deal with t3 flanged turbos of all breeds, as well as effectively managing the extra fuel that is associated with turbocharging a vehicle. Hopefully you guys will see past my pissyness at times and see that yet another very knowledgeable nissan member has joined nico. I never rule anything out until ive seen it beaten a couple of times.I never knock on any products until ive seen its downfall a few times, or by specifications it is already slower than what many peopl eneed.
like i said i'm not out to make enemies, but if you push the right buttons with me....
