I recently had the Yellow Key Light Blinking and the well known ESCL failure . Looking at lots of suggestions i managed to get the car to start by disengaging the Tilt Steering Lever and moving the steering wheel up and down vigorously .

I then took the car to the dealer who says there is no OBD code on the car and the car isnt showing the symptoms (I obviously Tilted the steering hard to make it work)

Is there some history maintained on the OBD - if yes how does one access it to prove that the fault indeed occur .?

Can a dealer erase the code or history ?

Hello, im not sure if the data is completely saved to the point it can be earased, I know that the warranty for the part that is failing has been extended. I would wait till it happed again and have it towed to nissan and have them change the part for free. It can also be your ikey that is probably giving you problems. Keep it away from your phone....

Thanks gingi801 - from the research I have done here is what I know.
A) For this specific problem - it does not log an OBD code
B) The official diagnosis document - indicates a procedure to check if the lock is in open state or closed state by hooking the OBD to a diagnostic interface.
C) For all those who are faced with this condition - it is best to tow it to NISSAN if possible

If you are currently viewing this thread because you have the problem and do not want to tow try this

this worked for me .. but take a video of your situation and all what you do to get your ignition back , This will be the only proof you have to show your dealer :)
