I am consistently getting between 17K and 20K out of a set of Yokohamas and yesterday I got my annual set of new tires.

I replaced a worn out set of Yoko AVS Intermediates with a set of Yoko ES100s. WOW! Those Intermediates were NOISEY!!! The ES100s are a much quieter tire. It is nice to have new sneekers. Miatas beware!

I put them on my 97 in 245/45 17 size on new rims. Getting better everyday as they wear in a bit, I like them and they are very quiet and smooth.

Yeah, I used to run Yoko's and they were awesome, but REALLY loud. It always sounded like I had worn rotors when I braked because you could feel everything from the hub up.

I have been running 18's for some time and have burned 2 sets of Yoko AVS tires and I am now on Pilot sports.

Yokos were 245/40ZR-18's and they stuck like glue but wore out like race tires. The Pilots are lasting much longer. 245/45ZR-18 in front and 255/45ZR-18 rear. I am going to change the rears for 275/45ZR-18's and they will fit (I tested).

The ES100s are quite quiet, the AVS were always noisy, that is why the came out with the AVS dbs. But the ES100s are very quiet.

How's the grip on the ES100's? My AVS tires were truly great, but I couldn't take the noise and expense of replacing them every 8 months. I would imagine that a quieter tire means that you sacrifice grip (assuming that the tread width, OD, and profile are the same).

My AVS Intermediate (2nd set) have always been quiet!!

The AVS dB (all season) were louder, esp. as they aged. The ES100's will probably get lounder with age too.

The ES100s are very grippy, they look great and ride very smooth. Overall, I'm very happy with them. For the money I do not think I could have made a better choice, we'll see how long they last and how quiet they are in 10k miles. I have an older pair of Bridgestone RE71's on my 300ZX, they have a little more grip (I think) but I think I would have had to spend 175 per tire to get the SO3's to get that level. Overall for how I drive my Q these are perfect at least so far....

ES100s are very quiet. They are the quietest tires I've ever used. They are also very sticky. Unfortuantely, they also wear very fast. I've only got about 9K miles on mine, and they are significantly worn. I'd guess they are 3/4 worn at this point. However, they were cheap, so the cost per mile isn't that bad. I'd recommend them highly if you can live with a fast wearing tire.

I expect to replace tires each year. Each heat cycle (heat up and cool down) hardens the tread compound so after a year, even if you have tread left, any grip the tire had when new is long gone. The weight of the Q coupled with any spirited driving just makes the tire age faster.

It is just one more expense of keeping a Q alive.
