2nd gen:1997: debut1998: odometer becomes electronic1999: power rear sun shade and trunk and Xenons std., Q45t gets electronically controlled suspension2000: touch-screen nav optional, one-touch windows & sunroof std, 10th anniversary edition2001: body colored door handles

3rd gen2002: debut2003: power trunk, in-dash 6-CD replaced glovebox 6-CD, lights under mirrors2004: rear-view camera2005: minor front and rear fascia updating; transmission smoothness improved2006: Sport model added (w/ Rear active steer), Bluetooth added

The seats in 94 also came heated with power headrests. The center console changed and had a built in phone. The rear viewmirror also became auto dimming.

The car would start from a stop in first gear instead of second.

For 2nd gens, the analog clock returned in 1999 for the 00 and 01 models also.

Some stuff here also on 99:

No analog clock in the 97-99 Q's? I didn't know that. What do they have for a clock and where is it?

You're not to be trusted. Anyone else with a 99Q with an analog clock?

my '97 has a cheezy digital thing in the climate control panel. so did 98 i believe.

95 saw serious de-contenting vs. 94. some noteables: brake pad (electronic) sensors deleted. bibles deleted. much more vinyl vs. previously leather surfaces in cabin, the 'engine badge' on center trim cover was deleted. hinge covers for the door stoppers deleted. all 4 doors lower (outer) weatherstripping deleted. and of course on the 't' model HICAS was deleted.

The 1994 mid-series revision was substantial with different transmission gearing, intake runner and injector redesigns, thicker window glass, suspension softening, steering ratio changes (which might have actually been in 1993 but I'm not certain), and a lot more that I have forgotten.

1996 was a major change with the deletion of varible valve timing and the change from OBDI to OBDII engine management.

Only one 2nd Gen Q had the digital clock, the 97'. The 98' went right back to the analog clock. I have a 97' and it is the one thing I would change if I could........but the 98' had analog.

Did they at least give the 97Q a couple of out-in-the-open cup holders?

1999 had several major safety and comfort and convenience additions, and 2000 a few also. 2001 made the 2000 ae maple trim standard.

Unfortunately, the US FGY33 deleted the outside mirror memory on all models.

It's all in the previous posts. Even the rear anti-sway bar changes.

The 97' cup holders are just perfect, same place as at least the 99'. But mine broke (the little lip that holds cans) and is way to expensive to fix.

The 97' was a great model, also rumored to be the lighest. while i want the analog clock, unless I had an Anniv. edition I"m happy with the 97' overall.

2003 has higher final gear ratio for better acceleration and reprogrammed TCU. 2005 has double-stitched leather seats (like Rolls Royce) and standard Navigation.

Right, but completely different generation so really not even the same deal. It is a 5 speed transmission too (which I'd kill for), that is the one thing I wish that the 2nd gen had that my bro's 96' LS400 has that my Q didn't.

Yes, but 2002 was the first year of the F50. Then in 2003 the final drive changed. So it's a yearly change, not a generational change.

Somewhere between 1990 and 1992, the power seat controls changed from buttons "very similar to" (read that as exact copies of) Mercedes seat controls to simple buttons with arrows. not sure if it was 1990->1991 or 1991->1992 when Mercedes may have gotten upset...

-PetePS. still have a BUNCH of burgundy interior parts, HVAC contol and blower motor, set of OEM alloys (and plastic centers), and some other bits from my 1992 Q. Been busy with school, so no time for ebay yet. still prefer to sell here than [email protected]

wrong, 98 has digital clock also. I don't understand why they took away the option of one touch sunroof and power headrest but had these options in previous models!? I thought that you suppose to increase your options as your flagship become new!?
