Today is Chinese New Years Eve, and this is the year of the monkey. In China, we gather tonight with family and eat a traditional New Year's meal, then go out to buy new clothes or things for us to wear on New Years Day (tomorrow).

kids are allowed to stay up pass midnight becoz they have to greet each other with good luck phrases like "may you prospe" or "may you have good health" or "may beauty be with you always" -- ( i love that one!)

for the first 10 days of the Chinese New Year, one should be careful not to break anything like glass or plate etc. and not to clean the house like sweeping or mop as they symbolize sweeping away luck. also during these 10 days, young people who are single and kids receive a little red packet containing money from married people like your grandparents and parents. oh i miss them!

so guys and gals, happy Chinese New Year

Here a little monkey card

Year Of The Monkey

1920, 1932, 1944, 1956, 1968, 1980, 1992, 2004

People born in the Year of the Monkey are the erratic geniuses of the cycle. Clever, skillful, and flexible, they are remarkably inventive and original and can solve the most difficult problems with ease. There are few fields in which Monkey people wouldn't be successful but they have a disconcerting habit of being too agreeable. They want to do things now, and if they cannot get started immediately, they become discouraged and sometimes leave their projects. Although good at making decisions, they tend to look down on others. Having common sense, Monkey people have a deep desire for knowledge and have excellent memories. Monkey people are strong willed but their anger cools quickly. They are most compatible with the Dragon and Rat.
