allright so i recently picked up my 89 240sx coupe for $600

yeah it was cheap but for the condition..you tell me. heres basically a run down of all the things wrong.

worth it?

-Missing right engine mount (ka24de)-Missing alternator (its in my trunk)-Missing Wiper arm (not blade..the WHOLE freaking arm)-Battery is shot (no good)-Oil leak..making a nice pond in my driveway-Missing a few interior pieces-Some good rust spots (above windshield, and a few small spots)-Minor dents all over, but a nice big one front right fender-Right headlight doesnt pop up

i know..its a huge list..and i payed $600 for the car.

BUT-- I live in ontario Canada, so finding 240sx Coupes isnt easy. 240sx hatchbacks yes...but not coupes.

Was i screwed?

First of all, you bought an 89. It's an old car. It's already 17 years old, going on 18. It's older than some members on this board. Expect problems.

you've got the alternator in the trunk so why the complaint? have it tested before popping it in though.

missing engine mount, what it's totally missing and resting on the intake manifold or something? They're cheap and will need replacement for an 89 anyway.

The whole arm, so what? plenty of folks parting out 240's anyway. Go get a used one. Cheap

battery. again, it's one of those parts you replace every so often.

oil leak - depends on where the leak is coming from that will make it a pain to fix or not.

interior pieces can fetch a pretty penny if you're looking for perfect black interior pieces.

rust - never a good thing. have a body shop look it over. it rusted through or has surface rust?

fenders are a commonly jacked up part. again, it's 17 going on 18. expect it to have had minor fender benders and dings from the mall parking lot with a-holes that swing their doors open hard and wide.

right headlights, you check the relay?

600 bucks, you got what you paid for.

totaly true..and i expetced it too.

but its allright, i got my own shop in grimsby Ontario canada where i build cars for a living. only problem is i wont be able to start this car until all the others are finished.

wiper blade and engine mount the guy who sold it to me has, so thats not a problem.

and the rust above the windshiled seems to be almost through, but tats not a problem i can do that at the shop.

and iw as just making sure 600$ seemed to be a good price for what i got. a part of me is thinking i payed too much, but i suppose not.

600, if the engine runs then i'd say it's an ok find. probably a little less than what they go for locally to me though. the rust though i'd have no patience for.

I dont get it, you have your own shop where you build cars for a living and you ask a question like this? All that stuff you listed is nickel and dime stuff for any old car.
