yea new alternator... help?!

ok my alternator went out so i got a new one replaced it and now my car has a funky smell like i just vacumed up a sock like a burning smoky smell you know what i mean. well yea and the alternator gets realy hot after only just a few mins like hotter then the engine and its now making like a whistle from it so im like what the hell asked all my friends one said it may be the power line going to it that could have been pushed into the alternator and is now hitting a coil my girls dad said it could just be the oil or luberacent in it that may be burning off and no one can realy give me an answer so if anyone had this happen or what not let me know PLEASE?!

Sounds to me like you got a bad alternator. it shoul dnot geet hotter thatn the engine. Any extra lube in it should burn off in a matter of a few miles.

Take it back where you got it and hav ethem check it.
