So the old stuff is done. BTW, don't teach a MT virgin how to drive in your G, unless you want new parts and the sex is REALLY good. The nearly absent pedal feel will guarantee a new clutch for your car soon too. I also recomend the shoe-less teaching technique in this car.

On to the business at hand...

Thank you, Thank you, & a thousand times THANK YOU to the guy(s) who put the full service manual here. Guess what? My local parts stores (3 of 'em) can't get any tech books for these cars. They figure people with +40k cars pay to get them worked on. Sacreligious. I do all my own stunts and wrench work.

With all that said, any advice? I've narrowed down the replacement part manufactures and will make the final cut probly tomorrow. Any install tricks beyond the service manual? Anything unforseen that's gona cause verbal abuses and wrench throwing fits?

I have beer and valium on hand so I'm cool with all that...

The clutch is pretty straight forward. It was a hard thing to find a clutch alignment tool. There was supposed to be one in the JWT flywheel/clutch combo kit but apparently they are out of stock. I ended up getting a generic one from a checker and it worked fine.

The flywheel sucked a**. If I remember correctly, it is held on by 8 torx-head bolts which were size T55. Make sure you have a good torx socket. an impact drill will make it about 100000 times easier. Make sure you alighn the flywheel correctly or you'll be taking it off and putting it back on. There is a guide hole. Just match it up (easiest to just remember how the stock one was on there).

I'd recommend upgrading the pilot bearing and the clutch pivot ball while you're in there. Might as well go for the SS clutch line too.

The JWT combo was a great deal. $775 for all of the above shipped.

Greg (AZHitman) has a Spec clutch (they make Competition brand as well).

There are several good options. It depends on how much power you plan to put to the tires and NVH (noise, vibration and harshness) that you can put up with.

Thanks. Went with the Competition Clutch set w the new stainless line & motul 600 fluid. JWT was all back-ordered for their flywheels & I wasn't willing to wait. Miss my fast car too much. Did like the replaceable friction plate on the JWT tho. Oh well.

I'm planning on recording the car today with the old set up & then begin to tear it all down. The new parts will be in mid week and I'll record what it sounds and revs like after wards. However it will require my kid to try and get the video online. I can turn a wrench but computers are a bit beyond my willingness to learn.

Just checked the tool box too. My torx set runs out at T50. Yay! Tool shoppin time. Is thread locker used on the flywheel bolts?
