I just traded the one on the left in 06 G35 6 speed manual for the 2012 G37S on the right.forestzemel wrote:Okay so, I'm super stoked to say I'm joining the G club. Thanks for having me.
I'm going to purchase my (used) G35 from a dealership here in the next couple months.
Story is: Grabbing one from a dealer because I know it's easier to get financed through and I'm having my lady co-sign with her maxed out credit score. Private sales have a much better deal with much better mileage but we've had bad luck getting loans from banks in the past with me as the main signer. Anyway we decided to do it this way so that I can start building credit!
Do you guys have any tips / info for me going into the dealership? Good Haggling methods? What to look for on the G?
ANY advice is appreciated. Thanks so much ahead of time.
EDIT***** Oh wow forgot to mention, looking at 04-06's...

Sounds like you need to work on your credit. My oldest had to clean up his before buying his truck which he did all on his own. He had to pay off a phone and some jewelery that he had stopped paying on.....He did make a deal with the collection agency for a fraction of what he owed.
I suggest cleaning up yours first as opposed to putting somebody else on the loan.
Be a man and don't drag her into your mess.....
Pretty sure that they will have to be on the insurance as well if they are on the title.....
beware that the manual G's have an oil consumption issue.
I would check carfax, check all panels cause not everything gets reported to carfax, buy southern car if possible (less rusty).
Good luck!!! And let us know how it goes!!

I would have thought a CU would be more lenient. Maybe check with another credit union?? I am a member of two. One gives is more lenient, but gives a higher rate and everybody gets the same rate regardless of their credit rating. This is where my son got his loan. The other CU gives much better rates based on credit ratings, but would not give my son a loan at all.
Check around some more. You might have to take a higher rate, but would be better on your credit if just in your name. Might also want to check some local banks as opposed to the national ones.
