There i am driving at 15 after midnight in my pulsar. cruisin 70mph or so, no hurry... nothng making bad noise. Then, the car bucks, backfires.. and i lose my tach along with the running engine. put her in neatral.. try starting... nothing. put her in gear and pop start, just spins the motor... nothing else.

dam, ill find out after i get out of work tomarrow.-----the next day-----

well, i guess my timeing belt is farked. it stripped itself into tiny strands and wrapped around the cas... it finaly broke i guess.

Well, the motor still spins freely if i turn the key ... which i havent done since i relized what happened... so maybe i lucked out and the valves are okay. If they are not... im gonna have to pull my motor and put my DE back in with the turbo stuff on it. Ill fix the det while i stroll around in a de(t)

If you indeed snapped the belt, then more than likely you'll need to get the head repaired or replace it with your DE head. This engine is no DSM variant where the valve heads drop into the combustion chamber and there goes a complete motor. You don't have a serious problem in my opinion, but then again, that's only referring to me. Change the head and keep on boosting.

welcome to my world

try throwing a new belt on it. Then doing a compression test, you maybe insanely lucky (unlike me)

Well, I checked the pistons with a scope. Pulled the sparkies and looked around in there... other then a few det scores from the previous owner overseas, everything seems to look okay.

Come Monday, I'm gonna take off the upper cover and sea whats left of the belt. Ill see if i cant salvage anything and re-time it up. ill check compression after that.

Its wierd, my belt looks like to got shredded into long slivers. I put a good timeing cover on it, from my old DE. theres nothing in the covers that i can tell, but the belt looks like it just got fubared!

Kay, got the cas out, the key broke off in it and its all messed up. doesnt spin freely. So, i decided to just say 'F it' and me and my friend got the motor 75% ready to get cherry picked tomarrow.

Cleaned up my DE motor to go back in. Gonna bolt up the turbo and go it that way while I fix the DET.

Yes, I could have swapped the heads.. but that is a PIA. honestly... I think this is easier

Should have it up by the end of the week. Might get held up by assorted parts requirements till friday (payday!). wish me luck!
