Got my CXRacing manifold in today, along with some extra dump gaskets since I've never seen these kinda gaskets hold up.

And while we're on the subject of gaskets, aren't these types of gaskets actually blown out when you take them off the car and its just the 2 thin metal perforated sheets without the composite (or whatever it is) material in the middle of the gasket 'sandwich'? Cause I don't think I've ever seen one of these typical eBay gaskets that was used and NOT converted into 2 thin separate pieces of perforated pieces of thin sheet metal. Hope this makes sense.

eBay SR20 elbow just showed up. surprisingly, it's bigger than I expected. the outlet flange is actually 3". and I think it's because of the bigger piping that they had to make that nasty looking "dent" to allow room for that one stud coming out of the turbo.

The included gasket is already separated. I'm really hoping it will just hold up, or maybe I can use something else for a reliable gasket. Any of you guys ever used copper RTV with no gasket?

Nice! Yeah, I have heard about clearance issues with a true 3" elbow, can anyone shine some light on that?

Playin' it safe with another OEM turbo gasket.

And my Felpro gaskets between the manifold and the head maybe have 100 miles on them. Hell, the Felpros that I took off to put those new Felpros on 100 miles ago looked brand new too. I have no qualms with reusing them.

But the downpipe gaskets are bigger than stock (since it's bigger than the stock piping) so I don't think there's an OEM option. Do they sell exhaust gasket material at AutoZone/Advance/Oreilly so that you can cut out your own?

Most flanges are standard sizes. Take the part to an exhaust shop and tell them you need a gasket for it.

yeah I'm hoping they've got one of those 3 bolt downpipe gaskets at the exhaust place I've been going to. they just built me a catback last weekend that came out pretty damn gangster. sounds good too, just too deep for my tastes. which should change tomorrow since i should have the new manifold and elbow on. :)

i reused my felrpo manifold-head gaskets and they leaked when I did it. they are pretty cheap to replace with added insurance. just my .02. Looking good though!

Damn 1.9L's, being too big and deep toned and what not. Should've stuck with a 1.8 man. Good news is there is an easy way to make higher pitched exhaust notes... rev the piss out of it, lol (Ellery's work is not warrantied should you choose to do so)

got the cxracing manifold on over the weekend. ended up using my buddy's Megan elbow. didn't get to drive it much though, but I like the sound. I think I'm tempted to remove the resonated test pipe in favor of a non-resonated version (or just weld in a piece of 3 inch pipe to achieve the same effect) to help bring the pitch up some more. I'm obsessive lol.

for the record, this manifold DOES lower the turbo a little. had to trim my oil drain hose. but holy cow, the access to the studs/nuts is amazing now.

can't wait to slide it and really get to hear it! :)
