Their new ad:

What they don't get is that all that crap they criticize about Google's search homepage is exactly why I DO use Google. Because it IS blank, it IS NOT full of other s***. I don't want a busy page full of crap. I want a text field and a search button. I DO NOT go to search pages to "linger" or to see content. I go to search pages to SEARCH for content. I don't use Google, or Yahoo, or Bing, or anyone as my SOURCE of info. I use them to find OTHER SOURCES. Yahoo definitely doesn't get it. Search pages are USED FOR SEARCHING. If I want a news page I'll go to a news page. When I want to search I just want to search. Keep it simple, stupid. If you want to be a news aggregator as well, that's great. Just don't clutter up my search page with it.
And even if none of that was true, the ultralightweight nature of Google's main search homepage makes it the ideal browser homepage for lots of lower-end devices or devices on slower connections.
But I think the most idiotic thing about the ad is that it NEVER SHOWS YAHOO's HOMEPAGE. It just talks about it.
So not only do they miss the point, they also fail to make a point.
