Their new ad:
http://gizmodo.com/5532171/yahoo-b****- ... d-campaign

What they don't get is that all that crap they criticize about Google's search homepage is exactly why I DO use Google. Because it IS blank, it IS NOT full of other s***. I don't want a busy page full of crap. I want a text field and a search button. I DO NOT go to search pages to "linger" or to see content. I go to search pages to SEARCH for content. I don't use Google, or Yahoo, or Bing, or anyone as my SOURCE of info. I use them to find OTHER SOURCES. Yahoo definitely doesn't get it. Search pages are USED FOR SEARCHING. If I want a news page I'll go to a news page. When I want to search I just want to search. Keep it simple, stupid. If you want to be a news aggregator as well, that's great. Just don't clutter up my search page with it.

And even if none of that was true, the ultralightweight nature of Google's main search homepage makes it the ideal browser homepage for lots of lower-end devices or devices on slower connections.

But I think the most idiotic thing about the ad is that it NEVER SHOWS YAHOO's HOMEPAGE. It just talks about it.

So not only do they miss the point, they also fail to make a point.

Agreed.
Google is my homepage because it is so simple.

Even if I wanted things, I'd use iGoogle and customize what I want to look at.

Yahoo has stupid articles and even more retarded news items on their website, I'm slowly going to switch all my e-mail address info to Gmail so I don't have to go to that lame place anymore.

I use Yahoo for services. I use Google for search. Yahoo needs to update its Scrabble though. Their version is pretty dated. I view Yahoo Weather about two dozen times a day.

I use wunderground for my weather, though I have a weatherbug widget on my phone since noone makes a decent wunder widget at the moment.

I just use chrome, open a new tab, type what I'm looking for in the address bar, hit enter, and I have a page of results via google search.

Personally I like the stripped down bare bones look and function of chrome. I don't want any buttons other than back, forward, refresh, home, go(although it is hot really needed if your enter key works), and bookmarks/favorites with the address bar and the tabs for the pages I have open. I can't stand browsers with 4" of bullsh*t buttons and toolbars at the top, I could have 3 more inches to view the webpage and still have all the necessary thing for quickly and easily browsing the internets.

*mini rant over*

Edit: I also much prefer google search over most other providers. All the crap on yahoo's page that you have to weed through annoys the h*ll out of me.
