Great to hear that, Fred. Just one word of caution: don't overtighten the drain bolt. I stripped mine already. Had to take it all off, retap with bigger bolt.

Yup, unfortunately greddy doesn't say how much torque to be applied. When I stripped it, I tightened it to the torque mentioned in the S14 SR manual (around 25 ft-lb). Apparently that's too strong. Now I use a nylon washer in place of the crushable Nissan washer.

Wow Fred. That Megan package is such a good deal. I wish I had a 240.

:Werd

I was intentionally gentle with mine as well and ended up stripping it. $!#$% aluminum !@#$!

Nice upgrade. How long were you running around with the stock pan for? I got my oilpan right after the head gasket. I was scared to run around with the 2-3 quarts that the stock pan holds.

Steel pan to aluminum is 6 lb. ft.

Fred even hand tightening the bolt could make it over tight. Apply liberal amounts of the silicone sealant and put very little pressure on the bolts when they go back in. Tighten them in a criss-cross pattern.

I think they are talking about the drain plug not the mounting cap-head bolts.

The muffler looks like poo though...the pipe coming out of the canister is like 30ft long. :P

the block holds 3.5 quarts. I usually end up putting 4 quarts in. That's the average amount of oil needed for a 2.0l block. So, I don't see why you're scared of 3 quarts of oil?

Because 3 qts of oil doesn't have very much heat capacity. It is easy to get such a small quantity of oil to its thermal breakdown point with just short bursts of hard driving.

My M3 uses 7 qts of oil for comparison, and man it makes for some expensive oil changes with Mobil 1!
