Soo, my car is currently sitting in the body shop getting the front end redone. A few weeks back, I skidded on some ice and scraped the underside of my p/s side skirt and the front lip. After the shop removed the front bumper, he called me in to show me the damage. Needless to say, it wasn't a total loss but the shop declined to repair it and instead just ordered a new bumper. Reason being, the repair work wouldn't be warrantied, if they repaired the old bumper.

Given that I was getting a completely new bumper, I decided this time, to go with the Sport bumper instead of another Aero bumper. Reason being is that I think the Aero bumper juts out a little bit more and sit's slightly lower than the Sport bumper. I mean, my car is lowered, but no where near as low as Kenny's car and I was having issues with dips/ speed bumps and everything else. The Aero bumper shows serious signs of scrapping, and that has been with me driving very meticulous. After facing all the difficulty of altered routes and pissing off numerous people behind me making turns, I almost wanted to raise the car back up.

but Nahhh.. that aint happening :slap:

After speaking with a few people, it's been said, (but not visually proven) that the Sport bumper is not as aggressive out front. Soo, i'm hoping this will make things better. While the car is being re-fitted with the new bumper, I plan to have both side skirts removed and resprayed, as well as a partial clear bra (added by orig. owner) removed from the the front fenders and hood. I'll keep the Aero bumper, and have it repaired later, should I get the desire to re install it later. I'll have updated pics sometime early next week, when i pick up the car.

Man the aero kit looks soo much better IMO. So are you getting the one exactly like kenny's? I still scratch my head sometimes at how low he is especially in NY with those crater sized potholes. Do you know how low the sway bar sits off the ground on your car? I know the 06/07 is the lowest thing on the car and makes it a pain to drive low without bags. How high is your bumper off the ground? I know your tire sizes match oem circumference so i would think that would keep you at a good height.

Mex, yeah this would be the same front end that Kenny has. I know it's a sacrifice, but i'm hoping that it'll perform better than the Aero bumber does on a daily basis. I'll still have the side skirts on, so hopefully they'll compliment the Sport bumper. The way the car sits, it has garnered sooo many compliments. But I really don't want to raise it up any more because I don't don't think it's that low to begin with. For the record, I never did measure it. I worked with a local shop to do the install and this was the height that I agreed to.

If this Sport front end doesn't agree with me, I will have the Aero bumper as a backup, well after I get it repaired. BTW, I may go with a lower profile set of tires next go round, but i'm not for certain though. The roads on your side of the water are rough as hell compared to Hampton/NN, and I like that added protection.

Bro, I guess I never got around to updating this, but yes the bumper (Sport) has been installed. The Aero bumper is sitting in the garage for now. I'll try to get some pics next week.

you can probably find one on ebay or craig list, if you go to the dealership, you will be paying an arm & leg for it. You might want to do a local search of paint & body shops in your area and take it from there, you might be surprise seeing companies are bidding for your business, good luck my brother and keep us posted

Usually you can find them on EBay but I can't. I also want to change my bumper to the sport (not aero) if it's not an arm and a leg (otherwise I'll just stay stock). The only place I can find them is the dealer which SUCKS. Anyone have a connection?

*** Testing Waters ***

I'm looking to rid myself of my original Aero bumper sometime very soon. There is some slight damage and scrapes to the underside of the lip, but the rest of the bumper is in very, very good condition. The body shop where I had the swap done noted that it could be repaired, but he stated he would not warranty the work "Obviously with the car sitting so low, it would be scraped-up again", so he ordered me the new (sport) bumper instead. Also, there are also 2 holes where the dealership installed the front bumper mount.

I think it's worth at least $350....

I had planned to keep it, in case I wanted to go back to it, but that idea has long been gone.

Shipping will likely kill this deal for me..thinking of having this one as a back up

I'm surprised the shop wouldn't fix it..are the scrapes THAT bad? It's hard to see in your pics...

You still haven't posted updated pix with the Sport bumper

The scrapes aren't that bad, but the very center piece has a small crack along the lip "only". I could have requested it be fixed, but when the idea came up to get a completely new bumper, i jumped on it.

I haven't taken hardly any pics of this car, but I do think I have one or two.

I'm surprised no one has jumped on this sale yet. To me, I think the aero bumper completely changes the look of the car (for the better). I know for lowering purposes, you may scrap a bit more, but i think it just looks better overall. Also, it makes the M37/56 even more stand-out than it already is. GLWS

Yes, the bumper has already been sold. I apologize, as I wanted to reply back to your PM last night; but I was on the HWY headed back to Virginia from Atlanta.

And I must be getting old or something, because the day it was picked up, I seriously thought that I posted a heads up to everyone letting them know that it was sold already. :slap:

No problem, do you remember how much the shop charged you for the new one (part, paint and install)? You said you were getting the sport one right? I am debating whether to get the sport or go a step further and get the aero.

I'll have to look at the shop break down when I get home from school, and follow up.

I just got my front bumper replaced and it was about 2600 for the aero bumper, midnight grill and install. That was through the dealership, through insurance. YMMV

Crap.. I realize this thread is old but I was looking at threads from folks who swapped over to the sport bumper. I bought all the pieces above for the sport bumper except for the last 2 (upper retainer seal and bumper bracket).

Actually looking at those Part#'s the bumper bracket is just the tow hook cap and that as well as the upper retainer seals have the same Part#'s as the non-sport bumper (even though there are seperate entries for w/ sport and w/o sport package). Do anyone think I'll just be able to swap those pieces over from the old bumper?

I'm realizing now that the OP was in a front end collision so I probably don't need those extra pieces if I'm just swapping bumpers.

I'll post pictures when everything is complete.

Not sure if this will help you, but going from Sport to Aero there was no additional parts needed. One plastic piece needed to be trimmed (cut with scissors). Other people that went from base to aero had same experience. I think we have concluded on this forum that the bumpers are interchangeable.
Also the part's catalog/database will tell you the midnight grill won't fit the sport bumper. This is bunch of bologna as grills are exactly the same and the black or base grill fits all 3 bumpers.

Funny that they say that about the black grill die to the fact that the black grill is part of the sport package.

I'm looking to replace my 2013 M37 standard front bumper with a Sport. Did you get yours done Brian35XR? Did you need any of those extra pieces listed by White-Rush? I have no damage to my front end.
