Y34 Windshield!!

My windshield cracked when the tinter was applying the film(two seconds with the heat gun and a huge crack started to form). I called my regukar glass guy, he called five suppliers--they all claimed it was "dealer only." I just got off the phone with the dealer--$843.

Any one else ever replaced one?

Good question ... in most states, tint on the front windshield is illegal. Did you mean some other glass?

Does the tint installer have insurance? Like liability insurance? Maybe you can collect from him!

Got to be the rear window.

I've had my windshield replaced twice and my insurance deductible on the windshield was $100. The original cost for the windshield was $275.

With the diversity antennas in the rear windscreen, yes I can see them being pretty expensive.

Definitely the windshield guys--the tint laws are lax here in memphis. I put 35% film on the windshield--28% everywhere else.

The tinter is a friend of mine with 20+ years experience--he has had this happen three times.

I will continue to attempt to source the glass. Thanks...

I *think* that I have sourced an aftermarket winshield for about $300. I say "think" because the last five places that I called quoted me a very low price only to call me back with "sorry, that is dealer only glass." Supposedly, this place actually has the windshield in stock and will be here around noon to install it--I'll let you guys know how it turns out.

Factory Glass: MSRP: $842.37

If shipping were not so much on the glass it would save more... but I can save about $95 after shipping (shipping is like $140...)

Winshield is in--$315 installed.

Will do on the springs(they just came btw). The guys in the shop will install them on Thursday--any tips or things to watch out for? Did you have to trim the bumpstops? Feel free to reply to this in your "Y34 lowdown" thread.
